ARod is just not very likable. But anyone thinking he isn't Hall of Fame worthy is just wrong.
The HoF is loaded with cheaters. Be it via pitchers who used vaseline, hitters who used excessive pine tar or the many, many drug users and abusers.
ARod and Bonds were the best NATURAL players of this era. When they added Roids they basically recovered more quickly from injuries and gained even more impressive home run power.
But those guys were studs by 18 years old before taking a steroid 1. And both would have been in without drugs.
But they were clearly competing against massive quantities of guys on drugs.
It's hardly as if they were the rare player to pin.
Keeping them out of the Hall of Fame renders it pretty much meaningless imho.
If you want to stop cheating, I am all for it, but you can't punish actual accomplishments and accumulated stats on some personal basis.
Create some rule to wipe out the stats of the year caught if you like.
But do that and Bonds and ARod still get in 1st ballot based on career numbers.
As to the Yankees no one should feel sorry for them. They chose to spend crazy money on guys at their very peak assuming that lasts when it never does.
