Oh ok,, Im a Troll, and now Im bringing down the board,,, your right, just ban me now....
I cant even bring an opinion on how this game is being played these days without being called a Troll for crying out loud.

Sorry for bringing an opinion...

Couple of question,

1. Have you ever played football?

2. Ever have a concussion?

I'm assuming the answer to both of my questions is no. Because if you have played and you were unlucky enough to get a full blown concussion you would not have made such a dumb post. There is no comparing a bone injury to a brain injury.

I didn't see the game but if Alexander was jumping up and down like a girl with a rope, he clearly wasn't hurting that much........I don't know of many people with a serious concussion that wasn't walking around or lying in a stupor.........A mild headache for me and I'm on valium........so clearly my heart and head don't always agree.......

But on the other hand you don't mess around with any head sustaining blows so that's another point worth repeating........It all really comes down to the medical staff on the field, although I'm not totally sure they have the last word frankly.........At least in Dallas we know guys will play till they drop or they'll be doing bench warming duties for awhile...........Not saying that's good or bad, but I suspect Shaun A wouldn'tve been jumping up and down celebrating in front of Big Bill...........

Dont pretend to know me, but if you did, you would never ask that question, so I wont even waste you time.

Go ahead and call me names, and shoot me down with your mindless insults,,, its not about me,, its about where this game is today.
Im not sitting here like some crazed psycotic, that would send aplayer back in with a compound fracture, or if the player was staggering around on the sidelines after a monster hit he just sustained.
Im just saying that it doesnt take a doctor to tell me that an animated and celebrating SA doesnt have balls.
Now go ahead and delete my post and ban me for not agreeing with the masses here.

Your post tells me everything I need to know about you. No sense in wasting anymore bandwidth on this go read some medical journals on concussion's and brain damage.

I think that in the CBA and League rules that once the team doctor diagnoses a concussion the player is not allowed to reenter the game.

The game has gotten soft in many ways.
But you don't mess around with head injuries, that's all.

But as a result of the "softening" of the game, players careers last longer and there are less dibilitating ijuries.

they didn't need him, just the o-line

I agree, that entire OL should be applauded in their play minus their starting RB.
They stood up to the task, when others chose to lie down.

Hell even if he was I'm not going to fault the guy for not wanting to chance it with a head injury. I do not question Shaun Alexander's love for football. However I'm willing to bet that he loves his wife and kids more.

Quite the opposite I would say,,, I remember a day when players sucked it up, and told the doc to read a journal while they went back in and contributed to history,,, it must be you that is 10 years old my friend, and I feel sorry for you in that you never were able to wittness or even understand about what it takes to be a "hero".
It comes down to character and heart, regardless of the leeching that Im getting from this thread, I wont back down from my original post.

...waxing over days gone by as if they were the right way to approach things is not going to justify your opinion.

All I can do is offer an example from my own past of seeing what concussions do to a person in real life and not some contorted version that you hold in your mind as you idolized sports heroes of the past.

Basically three examples. As a young child I got to see a Saskatchewan Roughrider icon form the late 50's and 60's named George Reed. Star runningback, but by the time I got to him he was slurred of speech and had incessant shaking. Still a bright and engaging person, but clearly damaged by his years in football. Not how you want to be when you are only in your early forties.

Second, a friend form near my hometown who I both played hockey and went eventually to high school with, star winger of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Wendel Clark. He got out just in time because my third example, his cousin, enforcer for the Detroit Red Wings, Joey Kocur, suffers from terrible side effects from repeated concussions.

There's no heroism here, these are the names and faces of real people who wives and children have to live with uninformed attitudes like the one you are parlaying here. Society doesn't need this and sports definitely doesn't need this.

The best cure for this thread is to see how you would approach your life is if you are willing to put yourself in Alexander's shoes right now or all the other sports players who have had their careers and lives affected by this. There will be no way for you to understand the gravity of the opinion you are spreading without being in this state.

Run a few yards in Alexander's cleats before tossing out your opinion. No one has a right to an opinion of someone else's health. We own nobody.

ridiculous thread....with a concussion, when the team doctor says you aren't going back in, neither the coach nor the player can overrule him.

I have to agree with the argument of the original post.
Here's why...Alexander rolls up some ridiculous numbers against some weaker teams but it seems that every time a game is critical against a tough defense.....he doesn't play or play well.
Concussion, no concussion...whatever...I question his heart and ability to put up big numbers in the clutch against a tough opponent.

Emmitt Smith is the warrior I speak of!!
He led this team to a victory over the Giants when he seperated his shoulder and could only use his left arm, but that didnt keep him out of the game, he demanded to play,, even with the pain that tortured every fiber of his being in that game that proved the heart of a true champion.
Alexander is a total ####### sissy, and couldnt even hold Emmitts jock strap... what a friggin looser, and a total disrespect to the game.
He really looked injured jumping up and down on the sideline when his QB ran one in for a TD.

i wish people who exist seemingly only to call people a loser would learn to spell it.

To be fair, if any of you saw the interview Alexander had with I beleive Terry Bradshaw yesterday, one of the questions Bradshaw asked him was how Alexander had a reputation whether perceived or real that if you hit him in the mouth "so to speak" he would not run as hard.

But he was hurt yesterday, you cant take a chance with a concussion.
