Alfred Morris

I think it's just how we are using our resources.

We have four NFL quality RBs on the roster in Zeke, Rod, Bo, and Tavon. I think if Bo were to get injured again, Zeke to get suspended again, or Austin were to get cut. We would reach out to Morris first. Right now there's not enough room for a RB who will be paid more than the minimum and doesnt contribute on special teams.

Don't understand why Cowboys show no interest in resigning him. He was more than adequate as Zeke's backup. Averaged more yards per carry than Zeke. Good dependable team player.
He does not play Special Teams.

Cheaper options in Smith or Scarbrough.

The "2nd RB" may be Tavon Austin. That means they really want the 3rd RB to play Special Teams.

Keeping older non-ST RBs is generally not a good long term plan. It prevents a developing player from taking that roster spot.

I am laughing at Tavon as a RB.

I can't believe people actually think Linehan can pull this off in any way shape or form.

He is not a legit RB but he will get touches out of the backfield. Likely sweeps and swing passes. Doubtful if he gets carries between the tackles.

Zeke is not going to play 100% of the snaps.

The gap between Zeke's ability to run compared to other players is huge.

The gap between Zeke's ability as a receiver and other players is not huge.

The reason they've replaced Zeke on 3rd and medium/long is because they prefer that over replacing him on 1st/2nd downs or 3rd and short.

When Tavon Austin lines up at RB, it will be a passing play way more often than not.

When he does run the ball, it will be outside.

Tavon has as many career rushing attempts as receptions. Why is this hard to understand?

He’s a gadget back. A small, ultra-fast gadget guy.

No room at the inn. Smith replaced him last year. Younger, cheaper, more versatile. And now there are even more options.

I don't understand why 32 teams have no interest in Morris. Seems like a team guy, good in the locker room and he ran the ball pretty well last year when Zeke went down. The curious career of Alfred Morris

They have a younger, cheaper guy who plays ST and is a better receiver who they like just as much. They move Smith up, bring in a cheaper, younger guy to play RB3, and move Smith out when he's a FA and repeat.

If you do one thing at RB in the NFL these days, you need to be able to do it a starting level. Morris doesn't quite meet that criteria anymore. Good dude, though.

They need young studs behind Zeke. And they honestly need a guy that can be diverse and catch the ball as well. What they continue to do at backup RB is still a mystery to me.

Hes a gadget. I wouldnt call him any more than that. A backup RB he is not. If the guy had to carry the ball 25 times in a game he would probably be dead.

Kinda like Lance Dunbar, maybe?

Lance sure was a difference-maker, wasn’t he?
