makes us look like a team. Bowen, Carp, Butler, Choice, Austin, Hurd, Ogletree. If our starters did not win last year, we didn't win. I am now confident that our backups can play.

but but but...we were told that we had no depth and we'd lose all sorts of games this yr because of it...clearly the Giants and Eagles were deeper than we were.

I agree, I just wish we had more depth at OL. I'm always scared to death of one of our starters going down there. I was REALLY worried about Gurode not coming back last night...

EDIT: damn, you beat me. ^^^^^

Ummm, not really.

The only real issue was with the offensive line backups.

Not role players.

And luckily all of our O line have been pretty healthy.

Looks like Gurode has an ankle, but I think he will be ok.

And we are better now with the back-ups than we have been in a long time, IMO.

The coaches actually think enough of reserve LT Doug Free to get him game snaps late against Seattle. We would not have done that last year with Pat McQuistan as the game day swing tackle.

Corey Procter is still the interior reserve on game days with the starters healthy, but he will not start at either center or guard if someone is a scratch going in to a game.

Duke Preston would start at center and Montrae Holland would do the same if it's a guard.

I'm not saying that depth is great or anything, but it looks much better to me than it did in '08.

...a good run to the playoffs.

Players we rely upon at the start of the year - ie. starters - to be there relatively injury free.

Players we don't expect to carry the load, but can contribute in significant ways throughout the season.

If we have the entire squad contributing to the team's efforts through (17) weeks there's no reason why the Cowboys can't be competitive into January.

Its a real pick me up when the hidden gems on the squad get into games and makes plays.

Can't have enough of those Victor Butler incidents.

Also, our de facto "Number 1" draft choice, Roy Williams, finally had a productive game. Nice.

I was darn near curled up in the fetal position when Gurode went out. Oddly enough, Procter didn;t allow a sack: but Kosier did.

To be fair, that was Roy's third game of 75 receiving yards or more in seven contests this season.

Roy still hasn't gotten over the hill with a big game, but three good ones out of seven played isn't as horrid as some have made out.

There have been some ugly moments, no doubts there, but I can only hope things will continue to get better.

I'm not sure what you thought, but I did see a lot of people on these boards freakin' out about depth after a couple of preseason games because our backups were getting beaten.

dude, a few of us were of the same belief, but you know as well as I do that this board was FREAKING OUT over every single backup on the team. People were even doubting Austin.

I am not confident in any of the O Line reserves, except maybe Holland.

I am just suprised we have remained pretty injury free so far, except of course for Felix "Glass Joe" Jones. Seriously, I am sick of worrying about if Uncle Felix's "trick hip" or something is going to give out anytime he has the ball.

In a completely unrelated question, does anyone know how Stanback is doing?

Maybe we have a good GM?

Or did Jerry just luck into all these players?

Don't forget Siavii. He had some great push and penetration last night. Just needs to hold on to the RB
