In episode five they are showing the game against the Eagles and they show the play where Prescott does a fade to Dez in the end zone and the defensive back pushes Dez when he is 10 yards down the field and knocks him down and then knocks the ball down and they have the audio of Chris Collinsworth saying I don’t know how they don’t call that it’s obviously pass interference.

Well after that Garrett is questioning the head ref and so he calls over the sideline guy who did not make the call and his response to Garrett I didn’t call anything because I didn’t see it have any material affect on the play and Garrett’s response he says yeah he knocked a guy down that is 6’2 225 but yeah it didn’t cause any affect on the play.

So in this guys mind, he didn’t call the rule because he thought it didn’t affect the play. Even contact 5 yards past the line of scrimmage he could’ve called.

This goes to show how the NFL can do whatever they want. This was during the height of the lawsuit between Jones and the league and holding up the commissioners extension. I know we all remember the lack of holding calls. I don’t subscribe to the conspiracy theory stuff but some things that happen are fishy at best sometimes in my opinion.

As much as I love the Cowboys, I detest the NFL. It is the only league I feel this way about out of all the other sports with teams I root for.

I agree with the OP. I'm not at all a conspiracy guy either, but anyone who says they don't let personal feeling interfere with their professional obligation is lying and I think that showed a little too much last year against the cowboys.

But was it some large scale league wide Roger Goodell led conspiracy?...that's laughable.

Yeah welcome to the NFL. Games are heavily controlled. "Oh there's holding on every play."

They call it when they want to. Refs can kill any drive whenever they please.

When refs make terrible calls they are never held accountable like a normal employee would be anywhere else.

When is the last time you heard a ref get fired for being bad at his job?

We really need to have an official thread about the series. There is a lot of intriguing stuff from it.

I saw that, too. It was obvious interference because the defender knocked Dez down with a two hand push and the ref said he didnt see anything. Unbelievable.

So true. They need less rules not more. And accountability needs to be made public. There needs to be checks and balances when it comes to officiating. Also do not like the fact that New York has the replay official, and they still get it wrong half the time. The NFL has “their preferences” on who makes the playoffs and who wins championships.

I don't understand why people call it a conspiracy. You don't need an actual conspiracy to hurt the cowboys.

The refs answer to Goodell, and he answers to the 32 owners. If enough owners are against Jerry, then they will support Goodell on any decision against the Cowboys (or will turn a blind eye on unfair decisions against the cowboys).

Goodell doesn't need to tell the refs to call games against the cowboys. My understanding is that refs are rated after every game and they are penalized if they make too many mistakes. It would be easy for the league to be tough on refs that miss penalties against the cowboys, or to do the opposite with refs that favor the cowboys by mistake.

When enough owners want something, there is nothing in the world that can stop them. Goodell has supreme power over everything, as long as he has enough owners backing him up. Jerry was making a lot of enemies back then so I don't think it is too crazy to think the league was being tough on the cowboys.

What you are describing would qualify as a conspiracy.

Okay. Let me amend to professional sports league, lol. The NCAA is pretty bad, but I don't completely detest them either.
NFL Is not a sport it's
E N T E R T A I N M E N T
That's how it's classfied legaly.

In the same episode, they were 2 players talking about penalties not being called on the Eagles.

Q: What is the definition of a conspiracy?
A: A secret plan to commit a crime and/or harmful act.

What you are proposing is that these men let their personal biases influence their decisions? If so, that is infact a conspiracy theory...

I think Dez brought some of that on himself the way he played the game.

When both players are fighting each other on every other play, I think the refs are more likely to let them play.

Everything that you just described are potential conspiracies ...
