Do we need a new strength and conditioning staff also? We are loaded with injuries especially on defense.

I think this is a fair enough question. It is way over my head though, as far as being able to provide an answer. I will be interested in hearing from others that do have an opinion about it.

With the CBA in place; limiting players functions, how many of these players are even keeping in shape in the offseason?

We've had injury (particularly hamstring) problems well before the new CBA.

But the training staff doesn't have access to players year round. If I were on the training staff we'd be doing plenty of squats to build muscle on the base of the body. Either way it is something that should at least being looked into.

Here's the current training schedule I got online.

Monday: off

Tuesday: 20 reps of pull ups and hide and seek.

Wednesday: an hour of freeze tag.

Thursday: watching film of the hour of freeze tag from Wednesday.

Friday: making changes to the rules of freeze tag to promote parity.

Saturday: walk through and a game of dodge ball.

IMO we always go for the bargain. Lee is a stud. But he gets hurt. Since college. 2nd pick steal. Part of the time.

Carter, injury cheap. Austin is a waste. Such a talented player, but he's made of glass.

And that's the problem with this team. "blue light special on aisle 14....1st rd grade, but available in the 2nd.....don't forget this model missed his senior season with a torn ACL, but is better then new now!"

I read something a while back about how different strength and conditioning coaches plan their workouts. Some are very heavy on lower body with a big emphasis on squats etc. Others stick with more twitch variations. While still others are all about muscle memory and/or endurance. All I know is, it has been a while since our medical staff has turned over and, while I am not blaming those guys--not at all--it may be about time to change the way we train in the weight room.
