Is absolutely ridiculous.

This is one of the best parts of his game. He is young, and he has been nicked about a bit, it happens.

It's not the same thing as Marion Barber, seeking contact. Dez is going for more yards, simple as that.

Dumbest thing I've ever heard, asking a Cowboys player to dial it back... we need more players dialing it up.

I wouldn't word it that way. As I see it, it's not an effort deal as much as it is playing in or under control. He needs to play smarter with some concern for self preservation. He's wild out there.

If nothing changes in his game, he'll never play a full 16 game season and he'll never last.

He needs to be more aware of defenders around him once he has the ball. He needs to pick his spots a little better to stretch and struggle out of tackles.

Here's an example that has already played itself out too many times in his short career.
Dez makes the catch on the sidelines for a 1st down, shakes or brake's the 1st defender's tackle, but not completely........the guy still has him by the leg with both arms. So the defender's not going anywhere. Bryant will not escape this tackle and at best will only drag the defender a yard or two before one or more defenders arrive to clean his clock.

You want to stretch for a yard? Fine. Just fall to the ground before the other guys get there to take their shots. Don't try to take on the whole team for an extra yard.

Why do coaches ask their QBs to go down, slide, throw the ball away or get out of bounce? Why do the rules change for anyone else? Be smart. Break a tackle when you can, go down to avoid extra hits. Be smart. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

good point. He can still abuse defenders and protect himself a little. Not dialing anything back, just playing smart.

Because QBs tend to fumble the ball a lot, and they aren't used to taking hits like other players...

You're going to compare a WR to a QB? LMAO...

Break a tackle anytime you can... anytime he gets the ball he has potential to get a touchdown with a broken tackle...

Sonnyboy nailed it on taking on several tacklers... But mostly when people talk about Dez dialing it back, I think they mean the post-whistle stuff, like going berzerk on the sideline, or letting a corner get in your head with trash talk.

Go like crazy from snap to whistle, then calm it down in between.

And you don't know anything about football...

Players talk trash... who said anything about someone getting into his head?

going berserk on the sideline? lmao... rich...

I think they're asking him to play under control, and not get into shoving or shouting matches with DBs all game long, thereby losing concentration.

:laugh2: I love this... So lame.

Yeah, it's smart to get into a shoving match with Revis 15 yards down the field while Revis laughs at him... Very productive.

And yes, he did go berzerk on the sidelines last year.

Why does everyone think this stuff is so cool and even necessary?

That’s not the only reason.

Break a tackle anytime you can... anytime he gets the ball he has potential to get a touchdown with a broken tackle...

So could TO and he still would go down to avoid unneeded hits. Dez is a wide receiver, not a running back. Run routes and catch the ball. YAC is a bonus.

truer words never spoken..

I think Dez well be just fine.

You have to remember that he didn't play the entire season last year (IR after Week 12), not to mention the fact the football he did play last year was his first since being suspended at OSU.

It was the 9/11 game, on the national stage against the best corner in football.

I think Dez super amped and after making an instant impact early in the game, he was drained emotionally/phsically.

JMO.

Can't ask him to dial it back then roll him out there on kick returns to get hammered.

But his emotions are the opponents' twelfth man. They make him play sloppily and unsafely. Then his adrenaline runs out, and he's good for nothing. Dez will be nothing but inconsistent if he does not rein in those feelings.

So when MB sought contact it was not because he was going for more yards? It's exactly the same thing, Dez needs to learn when to go all out and when not to. When a guy has his leg wrapped up and 3 guys are about to nail him he needs to go down and avoid the hit, simple as that.

I agree with this. Plus, it might lull defenders into thinking he's a female cat. Then, they won't be prepared for his beast mode.

How about we just let Dez be Dez and enjoy the show.

I agree. I really don't understand the concern with the way he plays. If anything I would say he just needs to realize the situation and play a little smarter sometimes. Are people saying his injuries are due to his style of play? If that's the case, then I guess Jenkins, Newman, Scandrick and Miles should dial it back too.
