We are blessed to have this stud of a QB who is better than these scrubs of the past. :muttley:

The 29 Game winning drives by Romo was very impressive however we keep in mind that if Tony threw multiple interceptions he kind of created those situations

case in point; Romo throws 5 Ints against the Bills but still pulls out the win early in his career. 10 points in the final 20 seconds…….so some of the stats go beyond just the numbers.

Having said that, he was still a dude that could win an un-winnable game against a great defense if he got hot……more consistency, better health, and a better defense could have made him an all time great

In the last 60 years no NFL franchise has had the quality of QBs the Dallas cowboys have had.

Eddie Lebaron to Don Meredith to Craig Morton to Roger Staubach to Danny White to Troy Aikman to Tony Romo to Dak Prescott.
Every single one of them made at least ONE probowl (Back when that meant something) and to the present day
We have only had brief periods when we did not have excellent QB at least. Between Troy and Tony and between Danny and Troy.

A few things stand out.

1. Dak has a long way to go to reach the games started and games won metrics.
2. Stats have increased year over year for passing but Dak being 60 yards per game ahead of Troy is still wild.
3. The biggest plus Dak stat that jumped out is how high he is in Game Winning drives versus games played. --This stat is indicative of close games and solid opponents where you won the game on a final drive.

I'd rather 100 of these threads versus eye-ball nonsense tbh.

Yeah its crazy its like since there 49ers name game two years ago he got the rep of not closing out games.....before then the narrative was different for some reason.

Going by the AV it's

Staubach
Aikman
Romo
White
Prescott
Meredith

That sounds about right. I thought Dandy Don would be higher. He was the QB when I started following Dallas.
IM sorry but that lists show how great tony actually was as i go by TD% and INT % and that td-INt % is beyond great also factor in compl % etc Daks a lot better in all those areas then hes given credit for. the blowback and yet calling these 2 guys choking stat padding artist is ridiculous..they are better then most here give them credit for,

troy there a lot of IT and not many Tds compared to that list yet Dak can have one off year in INTs and get the "oh hes on the hotseat"..realtiy check his td-INT ratio is far bater then Troys and his compl % better etc etc etc
Dak and Romo did t pay with HOF OL, RB, , and many other including some of the best coaches of all time. roger an troy got the benefit of playing with better players and coaches some of the best all time..thats a huge factor.

white is not better than Prescott in any way shape or form. dont care how you rank them or what AV is hes better across the board IMO

Very lucky to go from Romo to Dak. I remember when we had Hutch, Henson, Wright, Stoerner, etc......so glad not to have to go through that again.

So quick math tells us Dak will probably break Romo's passing record in 2-3 years if he plays full seasons. To me this is more Today's NFL vs Yesterday's NFL. Not Dak vs Tony. I remember when Romo was close to beating Aikman's record and someone said, and I'm paraphrasing, "just think of the poor guy who has to follow you". Well in terms of yardage Dak looks to easily get there and pass it. Again, this is more of an indictment of how much the NFL has changed even as little as 10 years ago and makes offence so much easier.

Just goes to show you that it's not the stats, but the superbowl wins.
actually, not that shows they were ON FAR BETTER TEAMS with better players and coaches, teams win championships. IMHO Romo and Dak every bit belong in the debate whos the best to ever wear the star but the tie breakers being SBs is about the team and coaches, not the individual players

Look at those SB QBS who were the coaching staffs and who were their teammates?

Troy and Staubach would not have had that success with the teams Romo and dak have had includes the coaches and the changes around the NFL with the cap, FA, FT, and all the other nonsense.
