Poll was taken the first week of the season. I'd bet a year's salary if they took that poll today it wouldn't even be close.

a generation's worth of crappy football will do that to a team's popularity,,, but somebody should tell the green-eyed wannabes that the title isn't transferable.

"A Harris Poll of 2,543 adults conducted between Sept. 10-17 found that the Cowboys are actually America's fourth favorite team."

I guess that speaks for all 316+ Million people in the country then. Good job gang.

What's better is that over half of the people polled admitted they weren't even NFL fans. HOW IN THE HECK do you even include them in the poll. SO DUMB

Just look at the TV ratings from this year's Superbowl rematch a few weeks ago and Sunday's game. Wasn't even close. As is this comparison.

When will members of the media realize that its not a title but a nickname. It'd be like if we decided to say that the Seahawks are now the Steel Curtain or our O-Line is now the Hogs and the Skins have lost that. It's ridiculous really.

"A Harris Poll of 2,543 adults conducted between Sept. 10-17 found that Justin Beiber is actually America's favorite artist of all time. More so than the Beatles, Elvis, Hendrix, MJackson, etc. Because the 2, 543 adults speak for the entire nation of 316 million."

Maybe not the thread to ask but for the love of anything can anyone tell me what's with this media over-love of P.Manning? I mean the guy is good, I admit, but he stinks in post season, what's his record in the playoffs?

few days ago when Kershaw lost two games EVERYBODY labelled him a "regular-season pitcher", "Cannot do it when it matters" etc..... Isn't that the story of P.Manning career? His only SB win came against a team with poor offense and stinky QB. His younger brother, to me, did it twice in a really impressive fashion when beating the odds favorite patriots.

The guy is good and nice and all that, but COME OOOOON...easy with all the disgusting praise for anything he does or doesn't

What's interesting about these polls and "America's Team" is that they're really player-driven. The Pats were considered "America's Team" because of Brady. The Broncos are considered "America's Team" because of Manning. But with the Cowboys, it's the TEAM not the individual superstars that garners that distinction.

I'd argue it's the entire organization from top to bottom. Owner, players, cheerleaders, stadium. Hell, even Rowdy is probably more recognizable than other mascots. If we keep winning, you can add Garrett to the list. He was Joe Cool in those shades on Sunday and the players are following him. Sportsbabe calls him Jeezy. Well, Red Jeezy is developing some swag. #WeDemBoyz.

Yup. But, really, who cares?

We're winning, and who gives a crap about anything other than that?

Actually, there is a reason to care. The Cowboys received the designation as "America's Team" in part because they were the most recognized franchise at the time. One of the reasons why is because of their winning tradition. Another reason is because Tex Schramm moved the Cowboys training camp to California in an attempt to cultivate fans on the West Coast where Hollywood is. Another reason is because the Cowboys were generally on national television more than any other football franchise.

Even in years when the Cowboys weren't doing well, their games were featured nationally because of their following. So the Cowboys owe their America's Team designation in part because of their over exposure.

And I would think for those who don't have DirecTV's Sunday Ticket, being able to see the Cowboys more than less would be a reason to care. And high Neilsen ratings factor into that.
