Assuming these are the top 2 safeties left, who should we select and why? Let's also assume we already traded down and acquired and extra pick and both are still available.

i'm still leaning towards N Allen, though I think Burnett has good playmaking abilities as well.

I'd take either in the 2nd really, good value then. I think Burnett may be a better athlete, but Allen is more of a leader.

Allen is rated higher in general. I'd be ok with either one although my preference is for Allen.

Burnett - more of a ballhawk.

Which conference has better QB play? Allen's or Burnett's

Nate Allen in the second, then Burnett in the second, or Robert Johnson in the fourth

Probably close to equal. They both have lackluster qbs.

Allen is ranked 48th overall
Burnett is ranked 51st.

The gap is closing, in fact wasn't it reversed a few weeks ago? My guess is that one will be a stud while the other becomes a dud....

As far as I know, Burnett has been the one rising. Allen has been consistently ranked better, and hasn't really done anything to lower or raise his ranking while Burnett has been raising his stock. He was considered a 3rd rounder early on.

Either would be fine, though Allen is probably more advanced now in terms of his coverage ability and reading offenses. Burnett played a little more of a free-lance rover type position. Several draft guides I've looked at have noted Allen's football intelligence, which is probably critical for the FS position, especially in todays NFL.

Allen's the higher rated prospect, we'd have to take him at 27 or trade down just a few spots to get him. Burnett might be there with our 2nd rd pick.

I think this debate between Allen and Burnett is one of the tougher decisions out there, especially for us. Both are real options for us, considering where we are picking and where they are projected to go. Both are also, at least from most ranking standpoints neck and neck with each other. I wish I knew more about each player to make an informed decision.

From everything that I have heard, it also appears the boys like both players, although I cannot say for certain which they like more. Most scouting reports seem to indicate that Burnett is more of a ballhawk and that is definitely what this team is lacking. I also do not like the fact that a lot of reports are questioning Allens ability to stop the run and tackle in the open field. However, even with all of that said, most draft places rank Allen higher. Which leaves me baffled...

Since I dont care for any of the safeties we have on the roster, I would not be opposed to drafting 2 safeties and then signing 2-3 more UDFA safeties to compete for the roster. I also am looking forward to seeing what Hamlin as to offer, since he missed his rookie year with injury.

Thomas wont be there when we pick....so I say trade down to the top of the 2nd and add a 3rd and 5th.

Draft either Nate Allen or Morgan Burnett....then later take Myron Lewis. After the draft, sign Eddie Hicks and Quentin Scott as UDFAs.

I'd take Burnett. He's a freak of an athlete and is more of a playmaker. Allen needs to workout to show me what kind of athlete he is. I don't take a free safety that high unless he's a freak.

Do you like Mays IR?
