I thought we have one roster spot still open.We need someone other than Crayton.

I say no.

Anyone remember Dante Hall? Me neither.

Yeah I do.

Everyone wrote him off for dead, and he returned his record-tying 12th return for a TD against us in 2007.

He was exactly who I was thinking of...only for the different reason.

I guess we'd have to agree to disagree, he doesnt appear to have much left.

Plus if you activate him you are basically wasting another spot on a one dimensional guy who gives you nothing else. He is too old and slow to play DB anymore, and he isnt a good enough PR to warrant the wated active spot.

Other than yesterday, Crayton has always been rock solid catching the ball, and Newman makes plays when he gets his chances here and there. We havent lost any games because of the punt return position.

IMO that's fine wasting a spot on him. If we're using Buehler for other ST team roles, that free's one up anyway. And I dont care how old he is, he could play our 5th corner role in a pinch.

And yes other than yesterday Crayton hasn't dropped the ball. But I would like more out of our punt return game than not dropping a ball. Newman may have more explosiveness but he doesnt look natural doing it. It was obvious he didnt have any confidence to field a punt at the 20 yard line Sunday, let it go over his head, and it died inside the 5. Not to mention as injury prone as the guy is, I dont want him back there (which I usually dont believe in)

Our punt return game was awful yesterday, and it has been bad for quite some time. We made an effort to improve hidden yardage and field position in the offseason by drafting a kickoff specialist. Yet we leave ourself year after year with sub-par punt returning.

*Edit* Crayton has a career punt return average of 8.3, and his average this year is 9.4, good for 34th in the league.

If we're going to start Austin and protect Felix Jones, then I have no problem with picking up Rossum and cutting Cletis Gordon, who we only picked up because of Sensabaugh's injury and we couldn't get Marvin Gaye Barry White back.

No.. its not a spot Dallas desperately needs help. Besides, if they do need a PR/KR, trade for Johnnie Lee Higgins from Oakland. :)

What this team could use is quality depth at FS and maybe CB.

Think I saw something somewhere about Oakland putting the word out that if anyone wanted to make offers on any players, the door was open.

That would be a nice pickup if it was a reasonable price. Maybe they need Carpenter.....:

And you want to replace him with an older, one dimensional guy that averages less yards per return.

Brilliant.

What has anyone in our punt return team done lately?

What has Crayton done lately? Fumble twice.

Ahhhh. Patrick Crayton. The perennial fair catcher.

Look at last years numbers.

Let's not forget that Crayton and Newman do far more than just return punts.

This team doesn't need an aging punt returner taking up a mill or more in cap space.

What has he done lately?

Not much sounds like.

No thanks.

were talking about Rossum... not Barbie or siavii or shall i go on?

If you call an OT win against a 0-4 team a win..... yea we havent lost a game due to Crayton's poor play at PR..... Open your god **** eyes dont wait til we lose fix it before....

Of course it's a win, you better believe it. Wins in the NFL are hard to come by, regardless who you're playing. That winless team was at home and hungry for a W with AMERICAS TEAM in their house. It wasn't pretty but it was W and I'll take it..

i would probaly also take a free bj from an obese cougar and climax. Its not a win but id take it too. Its nothing to be proud of....
