Without a 1st and picking so late in the second we need to look at this as a 2 year fix and that means go out in FA and sign guys to 1 year deals.

I'm open to it, but that's easier said than done.

Players want longer term deals with more guarentees.

1 year prove it deals are usually dudes that have been injured or have some other concern. Maybe Berry or Houston fit the bill?

They absolutely do, and even guys like Tre Boston after a stellar season 2 years ago still couldn't garner anything more than a 1 year deal. There's fruit still on the tree to get if we need too, and I'd like to do so pre draft, but it most likely will be a post draft ordeal to fill the holes/ needs.

Right on Daygo.

I see needs at DE, DT, S, RB n WR, but the defensive needs are the most important to me. Although, a RB2 could sneak on to this team in the 3rd-4th round.

Would really like to come out the draft with a few DL and a S because those were the biggest issues after the Rams game, imo.

Lastly, a TE who could put Rico out to pasture and surpass Witt this time next year would be great too.
Our biggest need right now is D-end. The other 31 teams know it too.

DE is priority #1, but realistically speaking who's going to be there at 58 that is going to give us an impact year 1? Not saying we can't find 1, but realistically speaking if we want to win this year why don't we blow the cap for 1 year like the Rams did and not risk re-signing our own for the future. Now the argument would be the cap rollover aspect and use that money to give more up front while protecting the back end, but that's not going to help you win now.

With my 2nd rounder, I'm looking for a DE, DT, TE, or safety. I'm open to pretty much anything if the right guy is there, but those are definitely the main needs. It's a deep class at all 4 spots, so I'm betting we end up with a good player.

The Cowboys have gone into this new season year knowing their future money is allocated into the their current players over the next few years.

*Cameron Flemmings re-signed for 2 years, and he played very well when his number was called.
*Tavon Austin was a guy I really wanted to re-sign he brings a different dimension to the offense, speed threat, and a lethal return guy.
*Hurns not a total fan of this re-sign, although they can get out of it if a better option opens up but it removes the need to draft the position.
*Sean Lee another guy not thrilled with the injury history but if he can stay healthy at a reduced role his leadership is worth keeping around and maybe even his play on a snap reduction.
*Jason Witten, same as Lee.
*Justin March-Lillard another LB who knows the system.
*Christian Covington guy who was probably playing in the wrong type of defense who can give some juice and fight for a starting job at the 3-tech.

Going into the off-season we were worried about.
RB depth: Still needs to be addressed
WR: Unless there is a steal or a late round pick up in the draft we don't need to worry.
TE: Witten with the young guys like WR don't think it will be addressed unless there's a steal or late round guy.
O-line: You always look to add quality players but we are 2 deep almost across the line.
DE: This needs to be addressed, and I think we will look to do so in FA and the draft.
DT: Same as DE
LB: Might add depth on day 3 or UDFA, but a good looking group right now with depth
CB: 5 deep right now and you can never have too many guys I can see them looking to add depth/ quality if available.
S: This is a spot I don't know if they will address pre draft, but if they add to the d-line don't be surprised if there is a strong emphasis to get a few guys in the draft.

Over a month away we have 3 spots we need to address on the defense lots of guys available in FA who would be upgrades with money to spend. Do not be surprised if we look to move up if a guy drops.
DE Polite from Florida is falling hard...maybe to the 3rd. Would you trade up to get him?

He and Willis are two players I’ve been hearing about that I’m almost willing to give an undraftable grade too.

Both seem to be self centered, not all that interested in football compared to doing whatever they want.

I’m getting to the point where I don’t care how talented these guys are they are more detrimental than they are worth.

Give me guys that care, and team 1st guys first and evaluate talent second.
