With JPP/Jones/Ingram/Berry/Johnson getting franchised, we still have some options.

If we can get Perry, then that would be a key sign. If we get Perry, then we can nail a CB like Bouye or Prince and we have the D overhaul. Draft BPA and hopefully get several DEs and a CB in the group.

If no Perry, the best way may be to trade up to get a better chance to get a DE worthy of a 1st round pick.
If we are going to waste draft picks to trade up, then some of the other needs can be met by FA.
CB - FA (Bouye, Prince) and draft
SS - FA like Wilcox/Church
RT - FA or draft
WR - FA or draft
DE - draft additional DEs with upside potential.

Defense - Sign a top CB like Bouye (or Carr AND Mo). Resign one of Wilcox or Church.
Offense - If you cannot fix the defense totally, we would have to outscore the other team. So eliminate any weakness in the offense by upgrading RT and WR. That would be cheaper than defense fixes. Offensive players do not appear to be getting tagged much. So we could nail a RT like Wagner ($10M AAV?) and/or WR like Pryor (how much?). Then the draft could almost be entirely devoted to the defense. Trade up as much as needed to get a DE worthy of 1st round grade. Then pick as many CBs and DEs as possible with upside.

They are not paying top dollar for a CB. So no on Bouye.

Would you rather have a Bouye at $15M AAV or Mo at $8M AAV since one is healthy and the other is healthy ~50% of the time or less?

Even if any of those players weren't tagged, they still would have cost too much for what this teams philosophy is on FA's.
So those actions of them being tagged does not impact us at all.

I think Bouye will be too high also. Would love to have him, but I beleive he will be asking way too much. Especially if we can sign 2 or 3 of our own players for the same price or a little more. Give me a combination of 3 of the 4 of Mo, Carr, Church, Wilcox. and you eluded to anyway.

This draft is deep in DL, so we can stay put and still get a player that will contribute.
Now if they were to trade up, Malik Hooker would be the player to trade up for. He will be a difference maker at SS. He is the ball hawk wee need back there. Ed Reed type of player.

We can have mo, Carr, Church, Wilcox, or a combination of them for that $15 mil. We have 22 FA's, we need players, and can't replace them all with decent players, if all of that money goes to one player. We did ok with those same players last season. We need a pass rush. Now if Church or Wilcox, or both, are not here. Hooker is the guy to go after if a DE is not there.

I doubt we can trade into the top 10 for Hooker.
I have already shown we could afford 3 top defense FAs, so this plan would be significantly cheap.
If we nail a WR like Pryor - that could be a Dez replacement in place.
With Mo's health, you would need Mo AND Carr to have a reliable CB.

I was thinking Hooker, if he slips, from his surgery, he will not be at the combine. But agree, not if in top 10.
I guess I missed where you shown we can afford top 3 FA's. I'll go back and look.
I would like to think of Pryor as a complement to Dez, not as a replacement. Kind of like Irvin - Harper complimented each other.
Yes, agree about Mo, but we also have Scandrick and Brown back there too. Regardless, we need a FA or draft a CB. But do not need to overspend.

We are just not going to agree on the spending part.

However, I would rather have Carr and Mo - at least Carr stays healthy.
I think I remember Pryor looked good when he played against us, but that is my only data point.

The "new" plan is that you take the best available player at #28 outside of QB & RB.

Overall Pryor had a pretty good year. I seen on NFLN or ESPN, can't recall, but they were saying he is one of the top FA WR's available. That was about a week ago.

Claiborne won't get a long term deal at $8MM a year. Claiborne also won't get a long term deal as long a Bouye.

It takes play makers on both sides of the ball. Not at every position. But there has to be more than Lee to make this defense gin.

Is this team prepared to do this?

History says no.
