Am I off base with a theory I have on Jerry Jones?

I’ve been trying to make sense of everything since the Green Bay loss—both the product on the field and the way Jerry has been running things. It’s been clear for years that incompetence has been a constant, but what I’m seeing now feels intentional.

Think about last season: we win 11 games, and then in free agency, Jerry doesn’t spend a dime. Not a single dollar. This was the perfect year to address the running back position, yet the same team that spent over $10 million on Tony Pollard refused to bring in a guy like Mixon, Henry, or Barkley—or even draft a running back. This is the same organization that’s been accused of overpaying for RBs in the past, yet now, when the rest of the league is valuing the position more than ever, they choose to sit tight. They didn’t even re-sign Pollard. The team that supposedly “loves their guys” let their running back walk in favor of a player with one foot out the door of the league. This wasn’t a mistake; it was intentional.

Then, Jerry claims they don’t have money to sign anyone because they need to take care of Micah, Dak, and Lamb. But they could’ve locked those guys up earlier to free up cap space, yet they didn’t. Again, this wasn’t a mistake—it was intentional.

Now, let’s talk about Mike McCarthy. Jerry fired him last year, just not literally. You don’t let a coach on a “one-year deal” if you’re serious about keeping him. Coaches who are worth anything won’t work for a dead man walking—they want job security, and that wasn’t going to happen with McCarthy. They set this man up to fail. Wasted a year of our guys prime to insure they would suck this year.

So why not just fire him outright? Because the coach Jerry really wants isn’t interested in coaching this year. He wants to take a year off, rest, and maybe do some TV gigs. That coach is Bill Belichick. He checks all the boxes for Jerry: a retread with rings, someone who can sell to the fans, and most importantly, desperate.

I think what we’re looking at is Belichick as head coach, with Mike Vrabel coming in as defensive coordinator. The league is shifting away from the older retreads and moving toward younger minds like McVay and Shanahan, but as usual, this team is a step behind.
12-5 2nd sed home playoff game but maybe... but 11 come on man..12 3 years in row..

In my opinion Jerry wanted to run it back including Dan Quinn that's why he didn't let Dan Quinn go he was hoping and Dan Quinn nearly ended up back here one last job he technically really didn't wanna go there but he took the last opening Jerry really thought because of those 12 wins three straight playoffs I mean we did have one of the best seeds last year it wasn't like we regressed being a second seed he really was living off the fumes that he thought he can just run it back with very few changes if it wasn't for all the injuries maybe it would have been better but Dan Quinn leaving really wasn't up to him and I don't think he was expecting it and the team having to change philosophies and the defense having like 8 injuries it really affected this year I'm not making an excuse but I think you're out face a little I don't think you want to take a year off this was delusional enough to think we were still good enough to win 12 games that we were going to dominate the division and with very little effort we could do it again he thought the window was open he's that delusional don't give him credit for thinking he needs some time off and want to wait on Belichick because we could have had Belichick 2.0 a younger version and Vrabel if Vrabel wanted to come here..

Seems plausible to me.

The only problem with this theory is that Jerry doesn’t have time to wait around. His ego made him think he really put together a contender.

This team ain’t rebuilding lol.
We have so many holes, that retooling just begs the question, retooling for what? People seem to be trying to argue two things at once, that we have a lot of holes, but all should be okay if we retool and the current quarterback will be fine once he heals...

You misunderstood me. Those deals to my knowledge were cheap. They didn’t even try to do this again after having success doing it. So I can’t sit here and say they are just being cheap based on them not even making any moves.

I don’t think they would intentionally call bad plays for Rush but do I think this front office is better than that? No. I’m shocked you guys would give them the benefit of the doubt. Conspiracies make more sense than what’s going on.
There's no benefit of the doubt to give here. This currently is a horribly run franchise but to think that Jerry would tank a season given he has no idea how many seasons he has left just to get Belichick is just pure zaniness. Further, thinking that Mike McCarthy would call a game that would make Rush look bad is hilariously silly. Why would he do that?

You guys are trying too hard to spin this crap. As someone said above, it's often the simplest and easiest answer with Jerry and this team. Rush looked bad because Rush is a mediocre QB. I can't help it if the Dak haters are brain dead and convinced themselves Rush was no drop off. That's on their own stupidity. But I get it, it's tough to acknowledge that so you have to come up with bizarre conspiracies like Jerry Jones had Mike McCarthy purposely tank a game and make Rush look bad just to prop up Dak. LOL. Holy poop people.

Further, we have history. They have been cheap as hell in FA/offseason for years other than an occasional move here or there. Letting McCarthy coach in a lame duck year is nothing new. They made Garrett do it twice and the last time in his lame duck year you know who they brought in in FA? Randall Cobb, Chris Covington, Kerry Hyder and............. a broken down Jason Witten. LOL. McCarthy is here for one reason and one reason only. Jerry is loathe to fire a coach and have to pay him still. He literally said it publicly just last year.

You guys are wasting too many brain cells on bizarre theories here.

I wish we hired BB next but Jerry likely will jot want to share the limelight. If Parsons is the cornerstone of this defense that we should rebuild around him and move to a 3-4 base front.
It is all for naught. Jerry will hire another puppet.

His ego may also make him think he has more time than he does….but that’s a Good point.

i don’t think he’s tanking so to speak. But do I think it’s possible he put Mike in a situation he couldn’t win? I do. If he does the unthinkable and win? It’s a win. If he sucks? A win. He did not try to win this season. So it’s not tanking outright but it is.

I don’t think they intentionally made Rush look bad. But they back. It’s not hard to do. I don’t think Rush is 45 passing yards in a game.

Last year in a win now move they went and traded for Cooks and Gilmore. Same scenario this year they lose talent and start the season with two rookie offensive linemen and fix the linebacker group adding Kendrick’s….

This is just a theory of mine. I never said it was fact. I’m past saying “oh this is too stupid to be true” when I saw the owner defend curtains and defend signing Zeke over Henry.

I think it’s very possible.
