Am I the only one who thinks that Newman's comments were out of line? I'm thinking that a lot of people around here are defending what he said, saying that Kitna deserves it.

But quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if Newman was fined just for the comment. I love the idea of revenge, but get it on the field.

I don't remember people being so positive when the same thing was said about Tom Brady.

You're not the only one. I think it reflects poorly on him and our franchise for that matter. We need to keep our mouths shut and let our play do the talking. Why we have to constantly yap through the media to anyone that will listen, I have no idea.

i don't agree with it simply because now he has singlehandedly put the entire cowboys defense under an intense microscope. If any dallas defender so much as breathes on a lions player, namely Kitna, in what could be a questionable pass int call or roughing the passer call the cowboys WILL NOT get the benefit of the doubt. Honestly, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the upcoming game is a lot closer than most would think.. not because kitna and co. will drive the ball down the field, but because of the penalties on dallas' defense..

This is my first post here, and I wanted to use it to say that I totally agree. Kitna was out of line with his comments, sure, but TN took it to a whole new level. It puts an indelible smudge on the team's reputation, and for me, totally takes all the fun out of the game.

I have to agree with the columnist who said he shouldn't play this week. They are going to be watching for any tiny infraction and they'll nail him if they can whether it as intended or not.

This should have been a nothing game, a mere speeed bump on the road to the playoffs and now it's this crazy, out of hand mud-slinging fest. Why? Kitna and his Lions are not even worthy of this much attention from our players. There are better ways to get revenge. Keeping them from getting any points at all on the board would be the ultimate payback, imo.

I really wish he had kept his mouth shut.

I have no problems with his intentions but I think he should have kept it to himself. Kitna deserves to be layed out and I'm sure he will be a good few times but no player should have said to the general public that they were thinking about late hits - that just put's our defence under the microscope.

Hmm, reading other threads I realized a lot have already said what I think, I was just caught when some agreed with him or defended it.

I didn't like it from the day he said it..

and I honestly think something needs to be done about it..

You aren't alone. Some fans are congenitally incapable of levying any kind of criticism against players or management--no matter how justified. The fact that it came out of Newman's mouth was the most shocking aspect. Very out of character for him.

Who gives a crap what he SAID?

If he goes out and DOES something, then we'll talk. In the meantime, it's just trash talking before the game, trying to get into the QB's head.

Some of you need to grow a pair.

So you think he is justified essentially threatening a cheap shot?

I think a man (and player) should be judge by his actions, not his words.

He's trying to get in the QBs head. You know it. I know it.

The the 5 years Newman has been in the NFL, have you EVER seen him take a cheap shot at someone? Now all of the sudden you're worried he's gonna do something stupid? This 2 weeks after signing an agreement NOT to commit stupid penalties?

He's trying to get into the QBs head. It's obvious.

Newman is a pretty smart guy, I have seen him and heard him on numerous media outlets in DFW and there is no way he even meant he would do anything illegal. But I also know a ton of our guys have gotten fined for ticky tack crap this year, and that he most likely feels that frustration.

Newman isn't the kinda guy to do cheap crap, anyone that thinks that is what he meant doesn't know the player, and hasn't seen him enough in interviews.

Newman is a quality human being, and while I Am defending people, Roy is one helluva human being too.

Kitna should have never called out individual players.

He made the bonehead decision.

Newman showed nothing except how he can run his mouth
And as far as james is concerned, Kitnas was right. BJames looked totally lost during the last half of the season.
Buck up, kids, and take the criticism like men.
Show it on the field, not through yo grills.

I have said nothing about this subject(and I'm sure 99.9% of you could care less what i think:D ) but I'll weigh in.

I think TNew was out of character and went over the line. Having said that, i support him because he's not that kinda guy and IMHO he let it get the best of him. I bet it's a one time deal and he won't make that mistake again.
