Am I the only one who notices this about Ware?

That on about 5-6 plays he gets off the line a half a second late? Watch the Indy game again play for play and you will see what im talking about.

Anyways, in the Arizona game I felt he was unfairley ripped by that 4th string announcer when he said "Ware is having a bad season and must step up his game." You could tell he hasnt watch the Cowboys very much. Ware is having a very good pro bowl season. The thing people dont realize is that he doesnt rush the passer on every down and on about 20 percent of the plays he is in coverage as opposed to a Merriman or other guys of his stature who mainly rush the QB. His tackling, coverage etc is very good.

In closing, I will attriubute Ware as a very, very good player but not a superstar. Meaning, he will get 10 sacks a season on average as opposed to the elite of 12-15[Peppers, Strahan.} There is nothing wrong with this and he was a very good pick. Looking how young he looks and his ability he could be a guy that could play for 15 seasons. You can never have enough DeMarcus Ware's. As for Shawne Merriman, its like comparing apples with oranges and instead of arguing whose better, this and that, just say there both darn good football players and the Cowboys and Chargers got very lucky drafting them. Merriman has slightly better sack numbers but Ware has better stats of the things that dont go on the stat sheet such as coverage and open field tackling.

I think if there is a delay it might just be in fear of jumping offsides.

I believe he has a few this year... not 100% sure bit if my memory is correct he has been drawn off trying to get a nice quick jump.

I agree with your other points how you cant compare him to Merriman. Merriman is a headhunter who's 1 job is killing the QB. Ware must think about pass rush, run stopping, and also coverage.

He should be great in years to come. He has the tool and BP to look over him for a little while at least - look how LT turned out.

Without Ellis in the line up I think Ware will start to look like a different better player.

Did you look to see the down and distance?

If it is anything other than 3rd and long or late with a lead you are going to see this.

This is probably going to turn into another GROZ yawner but essentially he is looking for quick run/pass reads.

Some teams such as the Chargers and the Colts send their edge guys upfield constantly. Parcells and Zimmer ask their defenders to look for the run on running downs first then go upfield.

While this is why the GROZ crew constantly whines it is also why we are currently ranked 4th in run defense. When Ware runs upfield like that and its a run, he is very easy to block out of the play and our coaches dont like that.

As an aside, did anyone else notice Ware in the fourth quarter in coverage where his reroutes completely took out Clark and Wayne on the same play and forced Manning to throw it away?

He rushes the passer, defends against the pass and is stout against the run. Ill take that over an extra 2 sacks a year every day and twice on Sunday.

This went along with our gameplan.

We came out pressurring Manning AND their receivers.

Henry finally played up on WRs at points of the game (like i suggested doing - toot toot) and got physical.

We laid a blueprint down for all other teams on how to "disrupt" that "well-oiled machine."

Pressure, pressure, pressure EVERYONE. You must come out adn be physical with them and we did just that.

It would be devastating to have a steroid suspension for the leader of the defense at this point so glad Cowboys made the right decision on this one.

If you're not a true student of the NFL game then you'll never know who's playing well. A lot of announcers go by what they read and not what's actually happening on the field.....

If you break down the film, Ware is pretty good at everything he does.

He is great in space, and rarely, if ever misses tackles in the open.

He gets to his zone very fast. He is also very good at jamming guys who get into hte zone. Look at the Colts 4th and 2 play. He takes away both of Payton's options on the left, Clark and Wayne.

He needs to add another move to his pass rushing arsenal to keep tackles honest.

But overall, the guy plays great.

I think the lack of burst can be attributed to what other guys have been saying. Our edge guys have to read if it's a run, and keep their containment. If you are watching the OL's first step, it's going to slow you down by that fraction of a second you are talking about.

I did, and I don't. I just watched every defensive snap, and I saw two plays when he was "late" getting off the line, and one of those was after several consecutive pass-rushes against the Colts' hurry-up offense. On most plays, Ware was one of the first guys off the ball, and he REPEATEDLY beat his guy around the edge to put pressure on Manning.

Maybe someone could point out "five or six" specific plays when he got off the line late, because I sure didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

it's called a read and react scheme. And I think he will surpass 10 sacks this year. This may be hard for some people to swallow, but the Ellis injury will propel WAre to the next level. Ware could not attack as often as the OLB in a 3-4 should because he had to do the things Ellis could not do. I said from training camp AND I still maintain it. Ellis was converted to OLB to appease him and make sure we did not lose his leadership in the lockeroom. BUT he is not a guy who can play on his feet. Now that we have REAL OLBs on the field, it should free Ware up. I hate it for Greg, but that tells you how much the organization felt about the guy. But it was time...first Emmit, then Dexter, then Nguyen, then Glover, then Larry Allen....and next will be Flozell. But it is time for this team to be completely overhauled...so I for one will not miss them. I respect them because they were good players and the played for my team....but outside of Emmit and Allen, those guys were part of a Cowboy era that is easily forgetable.

You can compare Ware to Merriman if you inject Ware with Winstrol V to pump him up!

I think Ware is far from a finished product and will be 1 of the top pass rushers before all is said and done. You look at guys like Michael Strahan he did not start his career as some great pass rusher posting 1 in his rookie season and 4.5 in his second season it was not until his 5th year that he posted double digits sacks. I think too many want to label players to early in their careers, Ware is young and still developing and is looking more and more comfortable on the field.

I watched the game again on short cuts last night and to me, it seemed that Ware had an excellent game.

I agree he had 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defended and 1 forced fumble. That is not even counting the pressure aginst Manning

Uh, that blueprint was written 2 yrs ago by NE and executed very nicely last yr by SD and Pitts. We showed we can execute it too.

I think this was one of the best games he's ever played, it wouldn't be the game I would choose to point out his supposed deficiencies.

I can't see the plays as I don't have a DVR. It could be a planned delay. When you are playing a 3-4 defense and rushing one OLB sometimes they will delay the rush to fool the offensive line. (making them think the otherside is rushing) Sometimes blitzing occurs this way also. Delayed blitzing was eating our lunch earlier this year while Bledsoe was still starting.
