Lol, I can't give you a date. Al Davis is a great example of where this franchise will land if Jones doesn't hire some real football people. Jones is a good businessman but isn't a good coach or personnel evaluator. The problem is that he thinks that he is.

lol. same old crap. its hilarious that some think Dallas is the only place where a coach may come in with some staff members already in house. It happens in the NFL these days...Its happened with other teams just this offseason.

Wade said in the past he had no issue with Garrett and has been interested in him before. Others said the same

Jerry Jones isnt going anywhere. If people think he sucks so bad and Dallas as a franchise sucks so bad go find a new team or something

I have been a huge Dallas fan since the early 70's and I still am. I am not a blind Dallas fan however. Dallas hasn't won a playoff game for about a decade. Why do you think that is? The one constant is Jerry Jones and his poor coaching choices and personnel decisions. Look at the past free agents coaches and drafts. Bad grades on all of them until he gave some control to Parcells. Now it looks like Jerruh is going back to thinking he knows what he is doing compared to real G.M.'s

Dude, he hired parcells. What did he get for 20 million dollars, and a future hall of fame coach? Nothing!!!! Jerry for the last four years has sat back, and let parcells run the draft, and pick free agents. The team talent wise is better, but results are what matter, and parcells fell short. Stop blaming jerry for everything.

I was insinuating that by saying "Someday," you were underestimating.

We haven't won a playoff game in ten years.

That is wild conjecture and fairly ignorant. It was reported that Phillips was already contacting potential assistants to meet his staffing needs.

The coaching ranks have been picked over.

Parcells restocked a franchise that was in salary cap hell and had no talent in just four years. Not many coaches would have turned around Dallas faster or better.

Turner wanted some control and Jerry wouldn't give it to him plain and simple. He turned to Phillips, because Phillips didn't make similiar demands. That sounds like a recipe for long term disaster. Short term, I think the defense will be much improved and Dallas will be a contender for a couple of years until Jerry weaves his drafting and free agent magic.
Just because you have control, doesn't mean you're going to win (case in point, Bill Parcells)

Am I the only one that thinks maybe Jerry realized he was about to make a mistake in hiring a failure as his hC?

Not only that, but I don't ever remember Norv having a "dominant" offense as a coordinator either. He had really good offenses, but nothing like the Saints or Patriots or even the Buffalo Bills of the 90s.

But I do recall Phillips having dominate defenses, especially the last couple of years.

Nope it's not me but we think basically alike although I think Skeletor has ALREADY ruined the franchise -- thought that the day he hired Switzer but that's just me. I would've hated a Norv pick as well...I don't think either of those guys relate to motivating a team. Sure they can run their respective sides of the ball but motivators of men, they are simply NOT.....

i get the impression that it was Troy Aikman and the rest of the Dallas media that was trying to pressure in the Turner signing and it was his scouts and coaching staff that were telling him to go with Wade.

Now I was not antiNorv given certain conditions but if this above scenario is what took place then Jerry very much so did the right thing.

Im an egomaniac but when it comes to football Ireland and the rest of those guys know their stuff and regardless of what i thought before kudos to Jerry.

I've stated who in many threads. I liked Ron Rivera, and stated why as well but it is a moot point now.....

So you were willing to set us back a couple years just because you have a problem with older people?

My opinion but if Jones was going to ruin this franchise....he would have already done it.

Uhh...He pretty much has, look at the last 10, 11 years, unprecidented failure for this franchise.

it was Norv Turner's job to lose until he lost it by making ridiculous demands like a say in personnel and who is assistants might be?

Jones and his magnificent ego will ruin this franchise someday.

WP is an upgrade from that no-good, san francisco-lovin, underachieving, alleged genius, gum-sucking no-account varmint named Norval.

He stunk it up in Oakland, Washington and he still might stink it up further in SF.

WP is no Lombardi, but he's no Norval Eugene Turner deadbeat.:)

Failure and ruined are two different things in my book. Any year you dont win the Super Bowl or even make the playoffs, you could look at it as failure. It doesn't mean the franchise is ruined though.

The string of years together and all the different head coaches is a product of an unstable franchise, Jerry's continuation as the GM is a good example of ruin, until he changes completely, sells the team or croaks.

What exactly is your definition of ruin?

A complete lost of hope; to destroy completely; to fall into pieces....just a few. But you take failure out of what you're saying and throw in unstable.

Unstable I will agree with. The team has been unstable for the past decade.
