Only two wide receivers ran the 40-yard dash in faster than 4.35 seconds at the combine -- UAB's J.J. Nelson (4.28) and Miami's Phillip Dorsett (4.33).

Nelson is 156 pounds. Dorsett is 185. Cooper is 6-foot-1, 211 pounds.

Only two other receivers had times better than a 4.40 -- White and Georgia's Chris Conley (4.35).

Cooper’s game speed is better than I thought it was. That guy flat-out moves once he makes a catch. He carries his pads well. Most fast guys don’t.

IMO, his acceleration is what separates him from a lot of guys who run a fast 40. He goes from 0-60 in a blink. His first touchdown yesterday showed just how quickly he can pull away from defenders once he gets the ball in his hands. It was shocking how much space he put between him and the DB’s.

That acceleration is also what helps make him such a good route runner.

He was taken #4 For a reason. I think you're right about his acceleration being the key to his speed. His top end speed isn't the best but he gets up to top speed faster than most.

Would need to validate with his combine numbers as this comes from the eye test which are notoriously inconsistent.
