Amari Cooper and Dallas Cowboys training camp are about to cross paths, and despite the fact that the Pro Bowl receiver is still recovering from foot surgery, a source tells CowboysSI.com that the club is unconcerned about any long-term issues.

We have noted before, back on June 10, that the recovery, slow as it might be, is “not a crisis.” And now we're being told more timetable specifics.

The team is scheduled to depart DFW for Oxnard training camp on July 20. The first workout is scheduled for Thursday, July 22. Cooper, we're told, will be "cutting it close'' in terms of the rehab being complete just in time for a debut on that first workout day.

But at the same time, if July 22 isn't the magical date, that date is expected to come soon after.

Not at all concerned about him being a few days late in terms of participation. If his rehab is scheduled to end a few days after the 22nd there’s nothing to worry about.

He’s a vet and will have plenty of time to get sharp. In the meantime it’s going to be nice to see Ceedee and Gallup get those outside reps and see how they look. I feel like I already know what I get from Coop, the other two have undefined ceilings.

They are playing this off real smooth-like. I think the situation is more serious than they are saying. Coop has been held out of workouts off and on all off-season. Now here it is almost time for training camp and they still don't know if he will be available. Something just smells fishy to me.

I agree. I feel like we’ve seen this before. Oh he’ll be ready. Oh few more weeks and boom misses first few weeks of meaningful games.

Even if you are right (& I do understand your suspicion), AC is the one WR that could miss all of camp & still get up to speed quickly.

They have some intriguing young guys. Getting AC's reps could really allow you to evaluate WR4 and down. Not a bad tradeoff.

Hes as intellectual as can be, so him learning the playbook isn't a concern. He's not Dez Bryant where he solely relies on athleticism. It would be nice for him to get timing down before week though.

Many media outlets are saying "he'll be cleared for the first game on September 9th". That's all that matters at this end.

When healthy, Cooper can play. He's a technician with incredible gifts.

Much more important for Cooper to end the chronic problems with the foot than to get reps in training camp. He should take all the time he needs, and then some, and then slowly ramp up to avoid any regression. Getting and staying healthy is what matters with Cooper. Get it done.

Hopefully, Cooper won’t be this year’s version of 2020 La’el Collins.

Even if he is, I am not going to sweat an injury to anyone. If he is out then we get to see Fehoko, Vasher, Eagles, Branden Smith, Parker, or some other WR.

July: Player X is fine, we're just holding him out. He'll be ready to go day one. Not really concerned.

August: Cowboys put Player X on IR to open the season.

Lets hope Amari isn't player X.

Another reason why I would be trying to resign Gallup for around 13 mill and trade or move on from Cooper. Naggy little foot and ankle injuries and of course the 22 million per year salary. Like Cooper but for the money I would take Gallup.

Not concerned with Cooper being ready to go 1st day of camp, Just need him out there hopefully before the end of camp to be able to get some work with WR core and Dak as they get close to the start of the season.

Foot injuries can be tricky, especially with a WR.

Losing Cooper would be a big blow regardless of how deep we are. Counting on all those guys you just mentioned wouldnt be a good situation.

Well. Luckily coopers contract has no guarantee cash part this season.

So, if it is more serious….. at least the cowboys have options next off season.

No reason to be concerned at this point, like others have said, Coop can take all the time he needs to take until he feels its time, he is a vets vet and its kind of how he rolls, and gives some much needed evaluation reps to the hoard of rooks.
Seeking 4/5/6 wrs,, if anyone should be concerned with Coop missing reps its Brown and Wilson.
Moore looks for the Rooks.
