Amazon Lockers

Apparently, Amazon is placing lockers in common places to store your packages in. They are doing this for people who will not be home and don't trust a package being left outside of their house.

I like this, A LOT.

I mean, so long as Amazon.com bears the responsibility for the packages against risk of theft, damage or destruction, until the packages are safely in the intended recipients' hands, I'd be all for it.

I mean they appear to be locked so I don't see why they wouldn't. It's really good for people who live in big cities.

I'm don't know why they wouldn't.

They have that now when it's dropped at your door.

Personally, I think this is a pretty cool idea as well and obviously a move the company will benefit from because they can ship multiple items to a single address.

I didn't know whether or not Amazon.com guaranteed delivery, as a rule? I haven't bought from them before, so I plead ignorance because of that. If you say guaranteed delivery is standard practice w/ Amazon.com, I accept that.

Why I wondered: it's been my experience that shippers/ package delivery companies like UPS, FedEx and USPS actually DON'T cover package recipients for loss, unless additional fees have been paid in advance for specialty delivery services, which include fees for package insurance and/or signature required.

So, a package delivered to an Amazon.com locker... "Is it protected against loss, as a rule?" I didn't know and was just sorta wondering out loud with my earlier comments. Looks as though it is.

Amazon gladly replaces broken items.

It's funny, this thread reminded me I accidentally shipped a package to an old address.

Talked to someone on web chat and they just refunded the money.

I think Amazon is one of the better companies out there in terms of dealing with customers. I have had no complaints at all.

Agree, I prefer to buy everything from Amazon.

I am a prime member and sometimes I order things their because it is easier to get it delivered in two days then to go hassle with traffic and stuff when i have a bunch of other things going on.

I tried it out and loved it. I couldn't justify spending the yearly fee--which isn't horrible for what you get, it's actually pretty fair--since I don't buy stuff from Amazon that regularly.

I shop all the time so for me it is not a bad thing at all and I get some free movie streaming as a bonus. I also do 90% of my Christmas shopping at amazon.

Yeah, then it's absolutely worth it. Plus, a lot of the time it's cheaper on Amazon.

Yeah, I tried out prime some time back when they had a free year of it for students.

Loved it. Got an email for a re-up at the discounted price and took it.

I've ordered items that would probably cost more to ship than the item itself. Free 2 day is a steal and next day for 4 bucks is even better on large items.

Sales tax has hit for Texas oh well we have no State Income tax and that is how we keep from having state income tax.

Still cheaper a lot of times so got to deal with it and move on.
