They're in good shape appearance wise, not so much in endurance.

ya that ref told him, all these events look fun. My buddy and i cant stop laughing though, and those girls coudlnt run half a mile, they were sucking wind so bad.

Do you think this is scripted? maybe partly?

Nah, I don't think its scripted. But I think they let or encourage the contestants and gladiators talk up the camera a bit though.

Your kidding. Right???

This show will be canceled. When it came out in the late 80's, they didn't have ultimate fighting, Real World vs. Road Rules, Survivor, and all these other physical/ survival type of contests shows. It was a novelty then but it's no longer one today.

Also, our society is a lot more informed about strength and performance. We are not as gullible as we used to be. In the 80's, we were still ignorant about a lot of these issues and we assumed a big steroid freak was somehow a better athlete. That's why we used to love Stallone and Schwarzeneger films because we believed in that concept on some level. Now, we laugh at that notion. We know that a body builder who has a lot of muscle definition isn't necessarily quicker, faster or stronger than someone who trains differently. This is why most of our true elite athletes, fighters(UFC) and soldiers(SEALS, RANGERS) don't look like oiled up steroid freaks so when I saw those guys on NBC, I just laughed.

Yeah i seen that i was like ***, is this real. but it looked pretty nasty. overall i give the program a 8 out 10 vote, it was okay for a 2 hour show.

8 out of 10 is a good score. That's not something you give something you dislike. Just admit you liked it.

you might by the most cynical poster on this board these days.

Well I watched it.

I have to say... I forgot how cheesy it was the first time around.

Although I have to admit I was hoping Ali would have knocked that guy out when he got water on her.:laugh2:

He may be cynical, but there was nothing wrong in his post.

Didn't bother watching it.

They call them "Gladiators" But the reality is those muscled up steroid freaks wouldn't last 5 minutes as real "Gladiators". Those guys/gals are built for show, not for go.

You want to get some real athletes that would better resemble a true "Gladiator"? Get some of those UFC guys or martial arts experts or boxers , etc... athletes that have built/trained their bodies to perform, not the ones that built their bodies for looking at.

When I had to watch 30 promos of it during both NBC games on Saturday and every time they emphasize that they'll be wearing SPANDEX (as if this is appealing), that sealed the deal for me - I didn't watch TV at all Sunday night.

The best part was when both of the girls in the 1st shows final challenge fell flat on their face back 2 back. :lmao2:
