Amtrak's new AIRO train sets are nearing their revenue service debut! After months of testing on the Northeast Corridor, the new trains, built by ‪@SiemensMobilityGlobal‬ in Sacramento, have begun testing on the Amtrak Cascades route between Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC and between Seattle and Eugene, OR. Initial full corridor test runs were conducted by ‪@amtrak‬ on July 21st and July 23rd. In this video, we will follow the very first test trip on its journey between Seattle and Vancouver and return.

I wish Amtrak had a route from Omaha straight south to Dallas/Ft. Worth or maybe even to Waco. I would probably take trains to visit family down in Texas if the routes were available. But it turns out they have way more East/West routes than North/South ones. Their trains aren't fast like in Japan, but I hear they're plenty comfortable.

I rode on Amtrak for the first time about 15 years ago from Seattle to Vancouver. It was a nice, scenic ride.

I wonder if they’ve improved them inside. Amtrak pails in comparison to the trains in Canada.
