Really never been much about bragging on my golf. I'm a single handicap player who consistently shoots in the mid to upper 70's. However this past Saturday I played and posted a personal best. After the 1st 9 holes I was +3 39 and seemed as if it would be a typical round for me but on the back I got red hot shooting 5 under par birdieing the last 5 of 6 holes including 4 birdies in a row to finish the round for a round of 70 2 under par.

LOL...Awesome!!! I'm a single digit as well and usually come in around par to +3. This past Saturday, I was -3 after nine. Missed an 8 foot eagle putt and 3 birdies within 10 feet each. Finish @ -2. I know EXACTLY how you feel when the 1st nine goes the boring 39 route. It took me a while to understand that my game is good enough to make that run on the back 9. So now it's become more of a challenge than just going through the motions if that makes sense. Congrats man!

Thanks. What amazed me is I did not let the score affect me. In the past I would start trying to play safe or babying putts but sat I was able to say in the moment, 1 shot at a time and kept putting aggressively.

Awesome!! I coached golf in 1999-2000. Got pretty good, best game was a 74. Never got close again. I hit a 384 yard drive once and it ruined my game, tried to kill it every time after that. Havent played since 2004 when i became a head football coach. Been thinking of picking it up again.

Yeah I don't consider myself a big hitter. My drives are around 280, I have hit a drive over 300 but I can't consistently keep it in the fairway. So now I ease up on the swing still get good distance and with my iron play and short game I am able to play more consistently. Sat the putter was hot. 1 Birdie was on a 40 foot putt that I read it perfectly. The rest were 10 foot putts and less.

My Dad always told me to not be afraid to go low. For years, I let that go in one ear and out the the other one. It was only until recently did it hit home with me and I finally 'got it'. If I was -2 after 14 holes, why play it safe and be happy if I finished there? Why couldn't I kick my own *** in gear and try to get to -5? Don't be afraid to go low my man!

Never leave a birdie/eagle putt short....... great advice for us that don't get too many chances

I agree, I tend to want to protect a score and when I do I am not swinging the club as I should with a good follow through and same with putts. This past weekend I put the score out of my mind the best I could and just took on each shot as it's own. In doing that I hit the iron a lot more accurately and in the putting took my time made the read then stroked it. Hell it was either going to go in for Birdie or tap in par but I was not going to leave myself short
