#9. Tyron Smith, the Peterson dream dies, Quinn is gone and no trade down has enough allure to keep the team from getting a blue chip that has the tools to become one of the best in the league.

I think this is where the trade down happens. #40 (and #176) shipped away for #50 & #89.

#50. Kenrick Ellis, character is a mighty concern with Ellis, but the metrics and ability are worth the risk.

#71. James Carpenter, underrated OL prospect that can play RT and G.

#89. Shareece Wright, aggressive, tough little dude with awful hands. Made to play man.

#110. Ian Williams, the d-line needs fireplugs and this guy can be one strong plugger.

#143. Julius Thomas, there's just got to be a FB or TE taken. This time I go TE because the value of Thomas here is so high.

#220. Mark LeGree, when free agency comes back, the Cowboys will have a blank check set aside for safety. This guy might prove to be more than just a good emergency back-up plan.

#252. Mario Fannin, big, fast RB. Just needs to play to his size.

Curious....why would we want someone with awful hands?

Outside of the awful hands he's a terrific cover guy and overall defender. Maybe an extra load of work with the Jugs machine will help. DBs with bad mitts are annoying, but better he be in a position to knock it away than be a poor defender and not be in position to do anything.

I just wanted to present him honestly.

I friend Kenrick Ellis on twitter we are best friends and Also I grew up in South Florida. He will be a great person on off the Field.

Good to hear.

And Carpenter is higher on boards than I thought. Round 3 looks doubtful.

Some pundits are projecting Carpenter to be a top 40 selection (and are quite sure of it). Not sure I really agree though . . . .

I've been going with consensus on where he'd end up, watching him I've thought he should go higher. I'd have him as my 3rd or 4th OT. I'm nuts though.

Actually, in Goose's Top 10 by position (as of 04/15/11), his top ranked OTs are

1. T Smith (hope we draft him)
2. N Solder (bit wary of him)
3. A Castonzo (he's my 2nd choice behind Smith)
4. G Carimi (I'd be fine with him as well)
5. D Sherrod
6. James Carpenter
7. O Franklin
8. M Gilbert
9. J Reid
10 James Brewer

Rising: Jah Reid
Falling: D Love, Arkansas
Sleeper: David Arkin, Missouri State

So, if we assume the top 5 ranked OTs go in Round 1 most likely, I suppose James Carpenter could, in fact, go in the top half of Round 2.

Hadn't seen/didn't remember that. Makes sense. His name hasn't been coming up too often on here so I guess my point of view was narrow.
