An Emotional Reason for the Jerry/Jason Delay?

It has been said over and over that the Cowboys organization is run like no other. And that the Cowboys way is generally speaking, the Jerry way.
It has also been said, particularly of late, regarding players and coaches that Jerry is far too emotional. He builds relationships and then let’s those relationships form bonds that cause him to make sloppy decisions, like keeping Maher 7 weeks too long because he’s a nice guy.
Knowing that he has a long history with Garrett, has referred to him “like a son”, do you think it was simply a desire of an emotional Jerry’s to not associate Jason Garrett with “Black Monday” in any way shape or form? Whether it be because he doesn’t want Jason to live with the stigma of every Black Monday remembering this one or his own reasons of not being able to deal with it?

If Garrett is like his son, he is definitely the black sheep. He should have whipped his butt and disowned him for bringing shame to the family.

I think mostly true
Remember jerry paid a guy he knew couldn’t play
I don’t think Maher is a guy he had a relationship with. I think he loved the 60 yarders and looked around and seen not much to see
Remember forbath was on the street got signed and promptly missed a extra point and got cut
Jerry does get personally involved with players but Garrett is different
This is a guy he’s groomed for this job for a very long time and there is a real personal relationship thete

I think Jerry is on the fence about Garrett. I think he also has a good reason to be. I know I am in the minority on this one.

Garrett made some bad decisions. He hasn’t been a perfect coach. He’s too robotic. But he has had the Cowboys in the hunt every year.

Maher missed field goals this year. Moore has brain farts as OC, Zeke fumbled around a critical time, Marinelli sucked as a DC, Amari has a deflection interception. If any of the foregoing were not the case we would be in the playoffs yet again.

BASED ON TERMS set by the Cowboys ownership many things are outside Garrett’s control. It may not be how it should be but that’s how it is.

It’s probably something like Garrett gets one day to give them a presentation as to why he should be coach.

I think they’ve already decided on the next coach, talked enough and can wait for whatever stupid reason.
I think so too. But why, hurry up and announce a radio show at 1:45pm on Monday earlier then you normally do it and then cancel it?

If you want to wait, wait. If you want to tell us, tell us. You’ve already jacked with our emotions enough this season, just give us this news. Please, this we’ve EARNED!

A lot of teams can point to a few plays, or a coordinator and say the same thing. It doesn't mean anything though. Mistakes will happen in sports. That's why they play the game.

Garrett made the playoffs 3 times in 9 years. In a division that had bipolar teams. Didn't have to worry about a Pittsburgh, New England, Green Bay or Seattle type of opponent that was a legit threat almost every year for the division.

I don't hate Garrett either, but he's had enough rope as the HC.

From a talent perspective the cowboys have been loaded for several years, being in the hunt is not merit for Garrett to remain the HC. Wade Phillips had one bad season and he was canned Midway, it is fair to remind everyone that was the season Romo broke his collarbone. Dallas needs a coach that players will respectd and fear similar to Bill Parcells/Jimmy Johnson.

I agree with this 100%. And when we failed, there was never a single side failure it was a TEAM failure. We were the Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde Cowboys this year and I prayed the the good doctor team showed up. Unfortunately, Hyde came to Philly.
Unfortunately, after a decade, I just think it’s time for a change. I do think that JG will find success elsewhere which I think will be hilarious, if he isn’t made part of our FO which I still have not taken off the table.

Oh my Science. Ask Yankee fans if making the playoffs 3 in 10 years is “in the hunt”. There’s zero value in almost making the playoffs. We used to be Yankee-like in the NFL. Now we are the Kardashians of the NFL and thriving financially on the coattails of decades past. It’s hard for longtime fans to just quit The Star. And, Jerry knows it.

For us old-timers we also saw how Pittsburg stayed in the hunt even when Knoll left, Green Bay the same, San Francisco glory, dumpster, glory. Meanwhile we play .500 ball
at best with always the hopes of returning to the big game.

Used to be we expected playoffs and a real shot at NFC championship game. Now its can we win a one big game to even get to the playoffs, and as we saw we had
two monster games bracketing a real stinker at Philly.

The only bright side of all of this is that Forbath has shown he is a good kicker and we can rely on him to make more FG's than Maher... also Gallup, even with his drops
is an emerging go to WR....

I would bet Garrett is a fine human being
I respect him as a person and I think he could be a successful HC someday
But he’s not gonna be that here
Jerry gave him every chance and he didn’t get it done
The best thing for the team and Garrett is a friendly divorce

Great one with the Kardashian reference.......

Garrett is stubbornly clinging to a philosophy that worked before the parity of free agency. You can't just say you're gonna line up and be better than the guy in front of you game after game anymore. You need to adapt and scheme to take advantage of your opponent's weakness and and scheme around your own. Garrett steadfastly refuses to yield. Maybe he'll change at his next stop, or maybe he'll continue to have mediocre results. The fact remains, he's not going to change who he is here, and it's time for him to move on.

Along with that, Jones has to change his approach. This can no longer be a resort atmosphere. We have to have guys that are hard nosed football players without any emotional attachment to the FO. Like any business, hard decisions are constantly having to be made.

Exactly. The reason Wade was canned is because Jerry was waiting for the first opportunity to fire him so he could hire Garrett.

Saw it posted in another one of this forums threads . Garrett is " book smart" and he researched successful coaches... But in reality when it comes to " street smart" he's
lacking . He has the talent to play .500 ball but us old timers remember when 10 wins was not out of the question.

Check out Landry record from 66- 85 once he righted the team and before it tanked..... Thats consistency the likes of which built the Cowboy brand.
