An extension for reaching the post season?

Local talking heads here in Dallas were talking as if The Clapping Carrot would get extended win or lose in the Wild Card Round. What benefit could there possibly be in that, when he is already guaranteed through 2019? This isn't college where you have to worry about hurting little Johnie's feelings, or a promise you made to a recruit. Fans already hate The Clapping Carrot and are wishing losses on the team to be rid of this cancer....can you image the backlash if he is extended five (5) years???

It's not a Garrett thing. HCs league wide virtually always receive an extension before their contract year to avoid lame-duck status.

It's the duration of that second contract that says everything.

I]ve said this numerous times in other threads but will say it again here... Like many of you all, I want Garrett gone but here's what's going to happen, At the end of 2019 when Garrett's current contract is up, he'll be extended another 5 years... It doesn't matter if we go 16-0, 8-8, 1-15...

Why? Because Jones is very comfortable with Garrett... This way Jones still has control of the team's day to day stuff by having a puppet on a string to be the yes man...

You don't need head coach experience to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.. Jerry has already proven that.. All you have to do is do what Jerry says and you're in...

Unfortunately, this is the most likely scenario.

Jerry is never going to admit hiring Garrett was a mistake. So look for the entire coaching staff to be replaced if necessary, but Clappy is not going anywhere.

So we are back to looking for a new DC as Martinelli is going to retire.

So be careful what you ask for.

I do not want to be looking for a new OC and DC in the same season.
