I know I said I wasn't going to do any more mocks, but I have to get one more out of my system. I'm sorry.

Dallas trades 14 and 81 to NE for 27 and 31.

27 - Shea McLellin, OLB, Boise State
31 - Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
45 - Josh Robinson, CB, UCF
113 - Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma
135 - Senio Kelemete, OG, Washington
152 - Hebron Fangupo, DT, BYU
186 - Audie Cole, ILB, NC State
222 - Drew Butler, P, Georgia

Edit: Replaced Fleener, switched Shea as he's rated higher, and took Konz at 31.

Why Fleener instead a player like Konz. I don't get it. He's going to be like Fasano and Bennett behind Witten again. Except he can't block as well as any of them.

No way we draft a kid in the first round who will sit behind Jason for a couple years.

Fleener is 6'6", 250lbs, runs a 4.45 40. Has good hands too. He's Gronk on steroids.

If you replaced Fleener with Konz, that'd be a ridiculous draft. Four guys that would have immediate impacts? Crazy.

Indeed a good idea. Shea technically is rated higher, so I edited my draft and took Shea with 27 and Konz at 31.

Exactly and Fleener will struggle to do what Witten does -- being the best all around TE in football. Good luck getting on the field against that.

We don't play two TE sets like the Patriots. I can't stomach our first round pick sitting behind Witten for 3-4 years again.

I'd love to have Fleener and Witten. Not sure why people don't see the TE2 as a legitimate starting position given the packages we'd be running with it.

Because it's not really a starting position. Well, it's as much as a starting position as 3rd or 4th receiver. Our 3rd receiver will play a good bit more in 2012 than our 2nd TE and our 4th receiver may play nearly as much as our 2nd TE. And that's just talking about snaps played -- when we get into the number of times they touch the football, it weighs even more heavily toward the 3rd/4th receivers.

We don't really have a quality 3rd receiver on the team and we certainly don't have a 4th receiver on the team, so I'd say those are much higher priorities.

How much they play is a function of the player, not the position. A TE2 can take ~80% of a teams offensive snaps in the right offense in today's NFL. If you have a Fleener and a Witten on your team, they'll be getting their snaps.

That said, I think Fleener gets reunited with Harbaugh in SF. Pair him with Vernon Davis, and that running game and OL, and you've got some options for Alex Smith and that weak WR corps.

135 (4-40) WR Ryan Broyles
152 (5-17) DE Akiem Hicks
186 (6-16) ILB Miles Burris
188 (6-18) TE/DE Taylor Thompson
222 (7-15) CB Coty Sensabaugh
Trade #14 for Lions #23 and #54.
Trade #23 for Bucs #36 and #68.

Throw in a safety and I'd take it.

More and more, I am loving the idea of a trade down. I hope the Cowboys are of the same mind. This is a draft deep in playmakers and JG kind of guys (intangibles plus production).

All those trades make it very unrealistic but Im sure that was a fun mock to put together.

That would cure most fan and media ills that now are being left in the past...
