An Observation On TO

The media has noted that he is not making a lot of noise about getting a new contract. They have failed to note that TO's very loud, very loquacious agent, Drew Ronsenhaus is not making a lot of noise either. That is not in his nature at all.

It tells me that Jerry approached them, assured them that an extension would be worked out but he needed to get other deals done first, and he asked them to respect that.

Owens is treated with respect here. He returns that respect. Not even the media frenzy has been able to shake his tree and see what falls.

It's a very good sign for 2008. JMO.

I think while Drew has gotten a rep for being a brash jerk, he's actually a really good agent.

Owens wants to stay in Dallas and he just had some success with Jerry in negotiating Barbers deal, so why rock the boat now?

You're absolutely right.

I agree. I said in another thread that TO knows the end of his career is nearing and he is totally set financially for the rest of his life as it is........the ring is what is important to him.......he's not going anywhere.

He's got a good thing in Dallas. Jerry shows him respect, his teammates like and respect him & perhaps most importantly he's got a very good but still improving young QB who's getting him the ball. Plus the Cowboys are the premier team in the NFL and the most visible because of their drawing power in network ratings.

Don't forget that Garrett has him as a focal point of the offense.

I dont think anyone is worried about T.O. getting the extension. Other than the pacman jones situation it's slow at valley ranch. T.O realizes he isn't dealing with jeffery lurie, but with jerry jones. Enough said!!

I'm sure Jerry told him, "You want to be here, we want you here, don't worry about the contract. It's a done deal." The only question TO could have on his mind is the "would if" he has an injury before he has signed a new contract.

Drew was also VERY complimentary (After the Barber deal) about how the Cowboys sign their premium players in good faith. I am also certain that Jerry/TO/Drew have discussed things and assurances have been given by Jerry that a fair deal will get done.

Thats an understatement. As far as agents go, hes tops. Not only does he get the player money but his regular appearances on ESPN and his reputation has a steady pile of high picks falling into his lap every year.

If you asked average Joe what sports agents they have heard of, I'd bet nearly all would say Rosenhaus. Must be good to be him.

#81 is having fun. He's meshed well with this team and I hate to admit it
(we all gotta eat our fair share of crow) he's kinda growin' on me.

I'm hopeful that Owens' deal has moved up to priority #1 on the Cowboys' to-do list.

He's earned it with his behavior and his on-field play. The guy has been everything the team had hoped he would be.

I'd like to see him get a new deal before training camp.

I think Terrell Owens is just very comfortable here and I agree with the OP, that Jerry Jones is a major part of this.

Jerry Jones just has an exceptional likability factor and people enjoy working for him.

I agree.

Terrell Owens will finish his career as a Cowboy. With a couple rings to go with it.

Thats all great and all...

But only "sign" I want to see is a banner for "2008 Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys"

If TO signs extension and finishes career in Dallas without a SB.... It will have been for nothing.

I will be dissappointed.

I don't want to seem like I'm trying to refute what Hos is saying, but I read in ESPN the mag some time ago, that Drew has really calmed down, by his own admission, and isn't as brash as he used to be

but I believe there has been back and forth between the 2 sides, it makes too much sense to not happen

I don't know Bob, on Draft day he was pretty brash in suggesting the Bengals need to trade Chad Johnson.
