Let us not forget the QB who stepped in and so triumphantly guided our downward spiraling and lost franchise back from the depths of darkness and into the light. He'll be relegated back to headset duties on the bench this season, so we need to give him the recognition he deserves once more. Here's to you, Jon Kitna or J. Kitty Cool as I like to call you. You slightly redeemed a season with failed Super Bowl expectations and helped to make our unwavering support of this team somewhat palatable.

I don't see McGee taking Kitna's #2 spot, but McGee has played well enough to shorten the leash connected to Kitna's collar. Kitna's arm strength is still an issue, and McGee once again showed that come from behind flare. That impresses me about him.

I think McGee is still one year away from overtaking him. I'm hoping that we can build some hype around McGee this season and trade him for valuable pieces like Philly did with Kolb. I think teams are desperate enough for a QB to actually make this happen.

No offense, but after Romo went down I treated every game afterward like i did last nights game.

Too bad Kitnas not 7-8 years younger, we could probably get a 1st and 3rd for him

I know...thank you Jason Garrett.

We could have had Ryan Mallett backing up Romo, for cheap. :bang2:

Right now Kitna would still be my #2. I like McGee but he still has a lot of work ahead of him.

From what people were saying at the game, he didn't look very good last night. Seemed to have lost some zip on the ball from last year. I wonder if Brad Johnson coughed on him.

He better not be any more than one year away, because Kitna wont be here to fall back on next year. Final year of Kitna's contract, and final year of Kitna's career. McGee either steps up or loses his job.

I suspect the back-up situation is more Kitna is No. 2A and McGee is 2B. If there is any mop up work given to a QB this year it will probably go to McGee since he's the guy that needs to develop. Kitna is probably more the safety net in case Romo goes down for an extended period.

People were down grading him last year as well in pre season.

He just threw a few passes. Let's wait and see as the preseason wears on.

Man Brad Johnson was awful. I still have nightmares about that pinkie injury in Arizona. What a horrible set of circumstances.

Tough to get an accurate read on McGee since he tore up a 3rd team defense yesterday.

If the O-line steps up like they're being paid to do, than we wont need to worry about 2A or 2B at all.

Agreed that it isn't a sign that he is ready to step in against starting NFL defenses, but it is an improvement that he is evolving in that direction. May not get there, but like Romo did he is improving each year. I seriously doubt he has Romo's ceiling, but he may make a solid back up next year anyway.

But could Romo have taken it well, psychologically?

Of course, it would be like the girl who hangs out with ugly chicks just to make herself look hotter.

If it happens, which I'm hoping we never have to worry about an ode to Kitna, hopefully its like a few games while we are in the playoff race.
