An Uninspired Team

I don't care that much about the Cowboys anymore this season. I am uninspired. Why? Because they are a very uninspired team - especially on the defensive side of the ball, where passion is most needed. They are more talented than just about everybody they play (especially the defense), so why do they lose? A lack of inspiration. A lack of passion.

I'll watch them if its convenient, but I won't rearrange my schedule like I usually do in order to watch them. Win or lose, this team is boring to watch. And they lose as much as they win.

The three most uninspiring aspects of this team:
1) The defense. How many players on this defense seem to play with passion? Zero. I can't think of one player that I would say plays with passion. And that includes Roy Williams. He hasn't played with passion since his rookie season. I miss Dat and Coakley. Heck, I still miss Woodson.
2) Running back. Julius Jones is a boring running back. I'm sorry. He's OK, even pretty good, but I don't see the eye of the tiger. Marion Barber seems to have it. I would call him one of the few passionate players on the team, but he is more of a role player in Parcell's eyes.
3) The Head Coach. Ultimately, I think you have to lay the lack of passion at the feet of the coach. I'm a Parcell's fan - so this is hard for me to say. But I think the only way you are going to restore passion to this team is through a new head coach. Parcells looks to me like he wants the fire to be there, but hearing his responses and watching him leads me to say there is nobody home. Sorry.

Jim Mora, Jr. is a very passionate guy. His team is also undisciplined and inconsistent like Dallas.

True, the players have a lack of fire to win, seems like just content to get their ;paycheck and go home, rather than spend time on their errors, etc.

"Passion" most often is the result of playing well, not the cause of it.

The defense needs to have the attitude, offense doesnt really need that fire to execute. The problem is that our defense has none...NONE. Put that on the leaders of this D...zimmer, roy and ellis

They showed passion when they stopped the Commanders four consecutive plays inside the 5 on the goalline stand to start the game. They showed passion when they drove down with 35 seconds left to put themselves in field goal range to win the game, completing a 23 yard pass on 3rd and 12.

They have plenty of passion, they need to execute better and cut down on mistakes.

look what a blocked FG does to the phyche of the team and it's fans. had we made that kick i doubt anybody would call the team uninspired. i don't buy the uninspired bit for one minute. it's just hard to win on the road. we'll be ok.

I agree with this conclusion. To me, we are an immature team. We lack the ability to stay mentally focused for 60 minutes. It's the difference between being a young team and being a Vet team IMO.

We are more dumb than anything. We are the most penalized team in the NFL and we make mistakes (ie. drop passes, miss blocks, etc) @ the WORST times. As for the defenses passion, its hard for them to get into it and pumped up when we have zero creativity with the passs rush. Zim is predictable. Anyone on this forum can run an offense against our vanilla cookie cutting blitz packages.

I agree with what Jimmy Johnson said more when he said we are "undisciplined". I think that fits better than uninspired.

BTW, come home Jimmy, come home.

Campo could have given us this!!!

the Block goes on the coaches!!! the 2 point conversion goes on the coaches!!! the lack of fire is ALL COACHES!!!

JIMMY JOHNSON created a culture of fire back in the day this team needs that type of coach!!!

I don't know what it is, but Bill apparently doesn't have it anymore. His teams in the past where never the undisciplined and he would never put up with it. He been here over three years and the team still doesn't have it. I like Bill, but I just don't think he can do it anymore. Time to move on.

the team is young and undicilplined, they need to be shook up. Parcells needs to sit em down and yell the crap outta them.

:hammer:

even Ware showed some passion sacking Brunell, crawling on the ground afterwards

I disagree. Have you ever seem an unimpassioned team become a champion?

You guys are in too deep. Step back and ask yourselves if anybody on this team reminds you of Emmitt, Michael, Troy, Darren, Big E, Larry Allen, Charles Haley, or even Dat & Coakley. What is missing? Passion! We don't need the whole team to be passionate. It only takes a few passionate leaders to make a difference. We have plenty of talent - especially on defense. But no passion! I agree with Everlasting - I see it in two guys, Romo & Barber. Romo may eventually bring enough for the offense - though I'm not sure if he can be a Bret Favre type leader. But who is going to raise the flag for the defense!!!! I can't think of a single guy.

In the 3-4, I think it has to be a LB. That's why we have spent our last two first round picks on that position. Ware has the talent, but has the small problem of being "too nice" - they've said that about him from the beginning. Same thing could be said about Ellis. Carpenter looks like a pretty big dud. This defense is hurting for a passionate leader.

Ask yourself how much fun you have watching this team. Every game for me is torture - whether we win or lose - because it is boring. The starting RB is boring. The play-calling is boring as hell. The defense is boring. Boring. Boring. Boring.

Thank God I've got the Hogs. Now that is some exciting football!

I think our guys are just too damn discouraged to get crazy. Its like they feel the same as us... something has to go wrong when we are in good position. Honestly, who wasnt nervous when we lined up for that 35 yard kick?

As said many times today... our problem are the penalties and the few mental lapses at the COMPLETELY wrong times.
