@Fontaine pointed this out in another thread with regards to Collinsworth.
Collinsworth's Analysis
Collinsworth had given a good analysis of a play where the Cowboys play man on the side of the field with 1 receiver and zone everywhere else.
Boundary vs Field Sides
The 1 receiver side of the field (boundary side) vs the multi-receiver side (field side) has been an issue for the Cowboys defense this season. Most often it has been Awuzie on the boundary side with no help giving up a deep pass. This time it is the TE crossing over from the "field" side to the "boundary" side.
Videos
I've made two videos. One from the broadcast with Collinsworth's explanation and another with the coaches film that does not have the graphics obscuring the players.
No Complaints
Analysis
The player that Jaylon ends up covering holds the deep Safety.
Notice that they have DLaw drop in a very short zone.
That's a difficult play for any LB, especially with the increasing numbers of very athletic TEs. There are faster TEs than Goedert that would make it even more difficult.
No way to know, but it seems that if they had it to do over, they would prefer Woods as the box Safety to drop and pick up the TE with Vander Esch coming back up to cover the possibility of the RB coming out of the backfield on a shallow crossing route behind the DL.
It seemed that Woods keyed on Vander Esch as already having picked up the TE and Woods therefore moved towards the other side.
The zone drop by DLaw seemed too short to affect anything even if there had been a route in that area.

No Complaints
- I'm not complaining about the Cowboys defense vs the Eagles:
- The Cowboys held the Eagles to 10 points.
- The Eagles averaged 26.8 points per game in the previous 6 games in 2019.
- The Eagles previous low was 20 points scored.
