I don't understand why we haven't done it in other games and why we chose to do it tonight. Usually we don't blitz Ware too much; if we do it'll be on third down and such.

But tonight we were blitzing him damn near every down. And I can't count how many times he got caught running upfield to have a screen pass go by him, to see a reverse go by him, etc. And we NEVER stopped! We never even gave our defense a chance to see what would happen if we didn't give them easy passes underneath.

This is why we can't rush Ware all the time. If we do that you leave someone open in the flats. I don't know what you can do to fix it other than to get someone other than just Ware who is a pass rusher in that LB corps.

...this problem. First, move Ware back and forth to see Payton is up to. Then when it is becoming obvious he is exploiting Ware's aggressiveness, then you have to mix things up.

Maybe the opposite LB is the blitzer. Maybe you zone blitz Ware and bring up someone inside him.

For something even more confusing put him in the middle with his hand down.

If you want to see a confusing gameplan against an offence see what Belechick has done in some of his better schemed games.

What it usually entails is to do what they don't normally expect.

Zimmer better make some freakin adjustments and NOW because Payton just showcased to the NFL how to exploit a glaring weakness in our defense.

...align Ware in the same postion with Ayodele shading three yards behind inside of Demarcus.

Ware steps up as if to pass rush forcing the blcoker to think to engage him, but he drops back into zone coverage. Akin rushes in to fill the void and see if he can engage pressure on Brees.

That is really the advantage of the 3-4 as showcased by the Patriots and Steelers. You can't tell where the pressure is coming from and if you can't get pressure, at least you have people in the area where they would normally expect the zone to be vacated.
