There's rampant blame in all directions, but the blocked punt seems to be "under the radar" for many.

I dunno maybe my memory is fading (which is very likely! :laugh2: ), it seems Landry's teams went years without a blocked punt, this team is good for at least one catastrophic block per season.

Blame Romo... Blame Witten... Blame the poor running game... Blame whatever, but I'll take the blocked punt for $2,000 Alex.

I started a thread trying to find out who screwed up there; it did not seem to last long. I agree that it was critical but somehow its easier just to blame Romo.

Its just another page in how e manage to lose games. We are due for a bad long snap that costs us a game here at some point, or a return TD.

I'll take the Blocked Punt on a Daily Double. Absolutely the game-changer.

If we punt that ball, we win the game. Period.

Count me in on that...

Up until that point I was sure that the Cowboys were going to win this game.

Then it happened....I knew bad stuff was about to happen.

A play like that will turn the momentum around just like that...and it did!

The proverbial straw that broke the camels back.

The answer is clear: Romo missed the block.

I thought he was going to catch the ball before it was punted. Dude laid out and slapped it down though.

compared to the blame Romo threads it certainly has

1. It's not a competition.
2. A savvy vet like Romo should know better than a kid playing on the punt team.

For me it would be one thing to get the punt blocked on an outside rush... But inside?

Ouch. That's really, really bad.

Well said. There is certainly blame for everyone, but it's disappointing Romo fumbled the ball away.

Totally agree. Bad time for a breakdown.

That's football for you...

;)

But, then again, about Romo, I think that Garrett will now stress even more about situations like he was in. And, Garrett has some blame in this also...maybe he could have called a different play in that situation.

But, it is what it was...

L.P. LaDouceur is one of the best at his position. I am not expecting a bad snap anytime soon; and if he does have one, it will be well mitigated by the numerous seasons going back to the Parcells era without one.

It seemed obvious to me that the blocked punt was the edge in the game. The two offenses were about equal in yardage and turnovers each quarterback had a fumble lost and an interception. That makes both defenses about equal.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Jets actually found a weakness in our punt blocking and practiced it last week. Other than the blocked punt our special teams were efficient but they didn't really give us an edge in the game.

Romo was checking down to other plays. Hence the reason why the playclock kept running down. We don't really know what Garrett called.

Not as glamorous an excuse.

Basically, something about blaming John Phillips/Alex Albright/Jesse Holley just doesn't have the same zing that Romo/Witten/Garrett has.

I remembered this from Hard Knocks. @ 1:50 Westhoff calls for bonsai. Video quality sucks, but you get the point.
