I stated this in a thread last week:
“It’s funny this came up as I was thinking of starting a similar post. Not of cutting or trading Davis, but of his and Gurode’s continued missed assignments. Over the last 2-weeks I have watched nine of the Cowboys eleven wins from last year. And I must say that I have noticed on several plays in most of those games, there was a busted assignment between Gurode and Davis when being blitzed up the middle or stunted in the middle of the line. Without knowing anything of the blocking schemes, I don’t know whose fault it is, but have noticed that the middle of the line is targeted.
Listen to me, in those games I watched, there was just too many times when Gurode or Davis ended up blocking air and turning around to see Romo getting sacked or scrambling, or our RB’s getting hit at or behind the line of scrimmage.”
And after 4-days of practices, I am still concerned. When you read these practice updates and they state it would have been a sack on a play, I will estimate that 60 to 70% of those sacks is coming from stunts or blitzes up the middle.
God I hope they fix this!
