Currently Seattles DC. #6 defense in yards allowed. #1 in points. Seattle runs a hybrid scheme with both 3 man and 4 man fronts. Supposedly he is thought very highly of by Cowboys

He is hireable as a DC, since Mike McDonald is the playcaller

Aden Durde currently is the "Defensive Coordinator" for the Seahawks so he can only interview for Head Coaching positions.

The Browns have requested to talk to him for their head coaching position.

The one that got away.

I was going to create a thread about him.

He was on Dan Quinn’s staff with us for three years and previously interviewed for defensive coordinator.

Instead of maintaining continuity with the then current defense, the Joneses decided to once again go with ‘familiar’ and bring back Mike Zimmer for a one year run instead.

You want to know why they’ll have their 4th defensive coordinator in 4 years?

Because they chose to.

According to Fisher, we can actually hire him because he is not a playcaller in Seattle. I guess giving him play calling duties would count as a promotion

In fairness to them I don’t recall anyone wanting Durden here not even as a DE coach….

I’m not following you.

In fairness to who?
To the Cowboys. Now if the option was him or Zimmer I would’ve taken him just off the uncertainty alone. But I think we all wanted more when it came to a DC.

But we put ourselves in a bad situation and the Commanders find themselves in the same boat. No good candidates want to go to a team where the head coach is on his way out the door. Nobody good candidate was signing with the Cowboys for one year just to get fired with Mike. I

Zimmer wasn't a bad hire. I think he'd be fine here. Plus his old school hard-a style would be a good balance to Schotty's Hallmark Card touchy freely one.

Too bad he got his feelings hurt when they didn't consider him for HC.

Yes. The option was him or Zimmer. He did interview for DC two years ago (and was very impressive) but the Joneses decided to go with Zimmer and Durde went to Seattle. Big mistake.

I think the problem is we should’ve had far better than those two options. Is Durden the one getting credit for the Seahawks turn around? All I’ve heard about was Karl Scott.

Durden is definitely getting his fair share word was he’s now being considered for some head coaching openings.
Oh wow ok yeah I haven’t seen that. Good for him. Because I saw all the players on defense who are about to get big pay days and this might be his time to dip out.
