@Stevea325 Doesn't mean anything. When you get a chance to add players you do it. Don't read into that at all. Always looking for players.

Thank God for that.

Watching that video, it seemed like he had great hands and played the ball well, he caught it at the right point when he had to fight for it. There wasn't a lot of variety to the routes he ran. It seemed like it was just slants and fades. That was two years ago though, he's been with the Cowboys now long enough to work on his route running and he has the athletic ability and size to fall back on. I hope he shows what we're expecting from him this preseason.

I would not rule out John Phillips as a 3rd or 4th receiving option, especially in the 2 TE set.

...put that away! Parcells will kill you!

I've said this all along - I don't care who the #3WR is as long as they earn it and it's not just given to them.

I'm reasonably certain the 3 and 4 are going to earn it. And I think the depth will be better this year although not having any NFL experience beyond OT doesn't get me all warm and fuzzy.

The one thing I'll say is that he is used to adjusting to the ball in the air because his QB wasn't very good.

It looked to me like he hasn't faced much press coverage so that maybe something he has to get used to.

He looks like he is going to be more of a possession WR - doesn't seem to have great long speed but he isn't slow either.

He looks very natural catching the ball and doesn't seem to need to slow down and doesn't need a perfectly thrown ball to succeed. He seemed to be good at fighting to make the catch which is important in the NFL since many catches are contested and you need that mentality to be successful.

He only managed to put up 11 bench presses. Perhaps he'll need to improve his upper body strength before he's able to fight off press coverage better, IMHO.

Guys with the same level of strength may have a diff number of reps based on the length of their arms.
Bench rep volumes greatly favor short armed guys

Good point.

Arm Length:

Andre Holmes - 34" (11 Bench reps)
Cole Beasley - 28-7/8" (17 Bench reps)

The issue is that Holmes outweighed Beasley by 35 lbs.

True.

My guess is that those 11 reps are from more than a year ago (maybe spring of 2011)?

I'm told Holmes has had an offseason in the NFL weight room and has filled out some.
I don't know, but I'd guess those reps have gone up by now.
