Andrew Luck The Real Deal?

Let's say we continue to play .500 or a little better and don't make the playoffs, do we do something major to secure a young franchise QB to go along with Dez and Demarco? It would take a Kings ransom of draft picks to draft Luck, or draft picks and a significant player. if Peyton returns healthy, and Indy has the first pick would you package Demarcus Ware and picks to get Andrew Luck? Believe me I love Demarcus, but if this team continues to not get it done something needs to be done. I am a Romo fan and have been beaten to a pulp this year and maybe just worn down, but the Jets, and Lions games really have me shaking my head as to if he can ever get it done. If he can't I say pull the trigger on Luck.

Id package Romo and 2 first round picks.

Wow.

If Luck didn't work out that would be easily the dumbest trade in Cowboys history.

Now I'm not saying he wouldn't, cause he very likely will turn out great, but man that's a lot to give up for the hope that he'll live up to the hype.

dude has been built up for 2+ years will be interesting to see how people start to pick him apart during the draft process.

I like Luck would love to get him but I don't see Dallas really being in a position where they could get him

The silver lining in the Colts Manningless disaster of a season is they get to draft Luck and groom him, impressive luck, if you'll pardon the pun. Get the best quarterback prospect since Manning and let Manning tutor him a year or two.

You just don't pay that for anybody, they are not a rookie quarterback away from being champions.

Obviously it would be a move with the next 10-15 years in mind.

What's Romo have left? 5, if the team is lucky?

If Luck turns out to be what he's labeled to be, 2 1st rounders and Romo would be a steal.

Andrew Luck = the next Ryan Leaf. :laugh2:

No one started talking about Leaf until his last year in college. That was part of the problem. No one really knew him. Luck has been talked about highly for the last couple of years. He has been partially dissected already. I don't think he will be another leaf at all. It doesn't mean he will be a Hall of Famer, but I don't see him flaming out like Leaf.

Yes, it would be. It would be an even bigger steal if we were to trade Ogletree for Luck straight up. And the odds of those two offers being accepted are exactly the same.

This is how I originally thought about the situation, but honestly I don't think you can have both on the same roster. You're not getting the most value out of Luck sitting him on the bench. You'd have to trade Manning, and that'd never happen. I think if they luck into the #1 pick, the trade back and grab a guy like Landry Jones or Matt Barkley that you can sit on the bench. I think he ends up with the Dolphins or Broncos, since both should be motivated to get him.

My original thoughts were this: The Colts think/thought whatever that Manning will be ok. Just gave him a huge contract. If he is then they need draft choices and that defense needs help. if this mix we have isn't going to work, why not get value from the player who has the most and thats DWare. Sure it would suck, but thats the only way you get Luck. Luck/Dez/Murray.......

IF the Colts do wind up getting the first round pick and decide to take Luck....it reminds me of the David Robinson/Tim Duncan thing. Robinson goes down during the season, Spurs lose a bunch of games and luck out by getting Duncan.

The only difference is that Duncan went on to play with a Healthy Robinson.

But still the idea of one star player going down, the team having such a huge drop off and then getting the best player in the draft in Duncan would seem similar to what could...could...happen to the colts.

Demarcus is proven and could be one of the best ever. Andrew Luck, however much of a prospect he is hasn't done anything in the NFL. Theres no way I trade Demarcus Ware and picks to get Luck. What will come of the defense when Ware is gone?
