andrew luck = troy aikman

dude in my opinion you've made 10 posts too many

how on god's green earth is qb even on anybody's list of top priorities next year

romo's one of the few players you would want to keep

Thanks for the observation ;)

Romo is one of the players you would want to keep, but he is our version of donovan mcnabb....he'll get us close, but never to the top. We need a change in many places, and if we could get Luck, i would be all for that.

Some people don't get it, Romo is the least of this team's problems. You guys that want Luck you set the team back regardless. Rookie QBs take 3-4 years to learn all the defenses from DIFFERENT NFL teams. Look at how long it took Payton Manning to get to where he is at...:bang2:

I absolutely love Tony, and thats why I think this Luck idea is not sounding absurd anymore.

I thought we were just an O-line away from Tony taking us to the Superbowl.

I think I was wrong. The players we have now are nutless.

We need to reset. I dont want Tony to rot away whatever prime years he has left as we rebuild.

I like Romo too but I agree...the most important position in a team is the QB and when you draft a franchise QB you set your team for 10+ years.

Romo is undrafted QB...meaning he was never raised in football as a franchise QB and that contributes to one's mentality.

Plus he is getting old and not sure how much you can get out of him..you need to start thinking of at least continuity whenever he retires or even get injured like this season

If this guy "Andrew Luck" is good enough then we should pick him first

And if you are wrong you set you team back 10 years. Just ask the 49ers with Alex Smith. I don't know if Andrew Luck is the guy but I do not think we need a qb. Give me Patrick Peterson and put Mike Jenkins on notice after he wanted no part of tackling I think it was Jones on the goal line. As Deion Sanders said "he just made a business decision"

what about joe flacco? matt ryan? they seemed pretty good their rookie years

How could you watch this game and support any pick that is not named Patrick Peterson

I tell you what SDogo

I think I am in favor or trading down - get some extra picks

Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska -
Projected Round (2011): Top 10 Pick

Brandon Harris*, CB, Miami
Height: 5-11. Weight: 195.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Projected Round (2011): Top 20 Pick.

10/9/10: Harris is a baller - period. On tape, he produces and plays with the swagger and confidence you want to see out of a cornerback. He's a missle in run support and shows the ability to take on a block. In coverage, receivers really struggle to separate and offensive coordinators have stopped calling plays his way this season.

Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia -
Height: 6-2. Weight: 200.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2011): Top 25 Pick.

10/9/10: Dowling recorded eight tackles and one pass breakup against Florida State last week. He was hurt the first three games, but has made his presence felt this season and looks like a first-round pick.

Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina
Height: 6-2. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
Projected Round (2011): Top 25 Pick.

but who knows what Jerry is thinking

but things will change by draft time

If Luck = Aikman, does that mean we have to supply Luck with a first ballot Hall of Fame RB, a first ballot Hall of Fame WR, a perennial Top 5 defense and the greatest offensive line in modern NFL history? Because I'm pretty sure that's not happening.

So if Troy Aikman was indeed in this draft, and we could select him, you would not because of your points above?

Interesting.

Alot of Qbs couldve won on that team. Troy barely eeks out over a 1-1 TD to INT ration through his career. You gotta love him, but again hes not a world beater. He was surrounded by greatness.

We need a franchise quarterback and this guy is it. We need to draft him....until then, there is no superbowl in sight for this team for a long time. I love Romo, but he's no Kurt Warner.

This is the best chance of us getting the number one pick in years. I never thought i would say this, but i hope we don't win again this year....and buffalo wins at least 2 games :star:

Buffalo will likely get the 1st and pick luck so it's a waste talking about it. We can win with Romo, we need to just A) retool the oline, B) come up with more creative, smart playcalling(see '08 saints, '07 pats, i believe we have the talent), C) Romo needs to go back to '09 form and cut down on the mistakes/boneheaded throws.

1st pick will likely be used on Pat peterson and then OL/DB/LB/DL the rest of the way.

I completely disagree.

OK, why?

Not slighting Aikman at all, but the fact is we won games with Jason Garrett and Bernie Kosar (in his last days) during those glory days.

Troy Aikman was one of the high rated QBs in college history and a consensus number one overall selection.

His accuracy, leadership, and competitive fire made him an easy Hall of Fame selection.

From 92-95 he was 11-1 as a playoff QB, broke Montanas record for consecutive passes in the playoffs without an interception, and was a Superbowl MVP.

I can assure you that if Jason Garrett or Bernie Kosar were the starting QBs on those early 90s Cowboys teams we wouldn't have 5 championships.

Did you actually watch football during that time?

Ok i see from your profile that you were 15 years old in 1992, that explains a lot.

Lol, thanks for copying and pasting Aikman's wikipedia bio.

You've proved nothing.

The Dallas Cowboys were 11-1 in the playoffs, not Troy Aikman. But funny how you're selective with the statistics anyways, why not include all the playoff games, not just from '92-'95.

Question, what was the Cowboys record during those years when Aikman was out to injury?

What was the record when Aikman was starting and Emmitt Smith was out?

Thanks for playing.

I dont know about all that but i agree Andrew luck is very very special.

He is a special player. So is Tony.. Only Tony has proven he's a special player in the NFL. We'll see if Luck does the same.

Best of " luck " to the kid, no pun intended, but his first 5, 6 years in the league won't be as a Dallas Cowboys.

Romo is Danny White. Very good but not elite. Andrew Luck is an elite talent. Right now, there are so many problems I don't know where to begin.

So was Jeff George.

How could anybody watch the Cowboys for the past month and still think Tony Romo needs to be traded for a college QB... ?

We have a QB in his prime on a team that is going to take years to rebuild, there's no quick fix for this mess and we won't field a competitive team again until the back end of his carer if he even lasts that long.

So it's going to take the Cowboys 8 years to rebuild ?

Would you bet every single penny you have that Luck is the next Troy Aikman ?
