My g/f just got the Droid X and that is a pretty bad azzzz phone. If Verizon doesn't obtain the i phone, I'll definitely be switching from BB to a Droid phone next spring.

But, of course it is and it did. Obviously there are features that the iPhone does not, or did not have, that other phones have had. That's not the point. The point is that when it first came out it did more things in one device than any other phone and it did them all VERY VERY well -- better than how other phones did them. The experience was like nothing before. It basically revolutionized ("evolutionized"?) surfing the internet on a cell phone. And obviously the touch screen was a major development in the industry.
Now, the iPhone 4 is a step above the rest again. The resolution, the processing, the OS, the camera, the app store -- it's a combination of everything that makes the phone (for fear of playing into the Apple theme) "different" and better.

which android users have got their 2.2 updates yet?
I just received mine this morning.
There's an app called linpack which calculates how fast your phone runs and is calculated in MFLOPS (MegaFlops).
My 2.1 high was 4.643
My 2.2 high is 8.639
Phone is running at almost 2X faster after the update. Pretty sweet.

MFLOPS: 34.26
Time: 2.45 seconds
Norm Res: 5.68
Precision: 2.220446049250313E-16
When I reported it, it said I ranked like 18 thousand and something.
