Does anyone know if there is an app for android to backup your texts, but have it in a visual format of some kind? Something where it still looks like it does (or similar) on your phone, as opposed to simple text or XML?

If it could include images in the text history, that would be great too.

Maybe just save screenshots. I don't know. I know I lost all my conversations when my phone crapped out.

I don't think so. The text info is actually considered proprietary I believe, which is why the Feds always have to go to the Manufacturers to get data when trying to use Cell Phone Data to prosecute. I'd guess that it would be illegal for such an App but I could be wrong.

Well, I would think since there are backup apps that get the text/XML, that it should be possible. I just figured there might be something that could take that data and mark it up to look "pretty" and more readable.

The screen capture route is what I'm trying to avoid, because I have a lot of it I want to capture.

Can you not do a back up to an SD card.
Then later import it to another phone?
I thought I did that once but maybe I am wrong. Maybe it was a back up or transfer from the ATT store.

I don't know that this is really a backup but if you simply want to restore text messages to another phone, as SIM should work, assuming a card is possible and compatible.

To be clear, I'm not wanting it for actual back-up and restore purposes.

It's for sending to someone else to take a look at.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking you were trying to say initially. Honestly, I think it's a no go. The Verizons and Apples of the world keep that data and protect it under rule of law. I don't believe you can buy an app that allows for this, unless it's something that I am unaware of and offered by the manufacturer. Screen shot or pic of a pic is probably the only way but who knows, maybe somebody much smarter then I knows more.

Be of good cheer, you can basically swing a dead cat right this second and hit somebody who is much smarter then I am so there is hope!
