My friends 'in the field' hated working on iPhone apps. They felt the tools were poor and that it was way more difficult and clumsy than it needed to be. Though perhaps not a boost for Android, as they were moving from PC development to iPhone stuff.

I'm in the field...I design for the iPhone, Android, iPad etc. Android is way more of a pain because of the lack of design leadership and the various screen sizes. WAY easier to design for the iPhone. There are very few android apps that are looked at as great UI design. After working with adroid apps you understand why apple has a tight control on how the app store works etc. Not all iphone apps are great, but even the average plain ones look passable. The default android look is from the 90s....dated. Apple relies on UX design...just wish android did as well.

They were current as of early April when the article came out. It will always be like this because developers must cater to the least common denominator on Android where as iPhone apps will be designed toward the latest, best technology.

iPhone has 320x480 resolution and 640x960 resolution. EASY to make an app look exactly the same across all phones. Android could look different on each phone.

Oh no no no NO not easy. It is very technical and is using the best technology in it's development to do that.

You obviously don't have the experience our friend theo has in the technical world.

You should prolly listen more kmp

theo takes us all to school when we go smartphone thread...

You'll will learn next time

Ha! They aren't good programmers because they don't like Objective C and think it's clunky? Well, I need not say anymore. You've exposed yourself AGAIN for what you really are. Just an Apple fanboy with no actual insight into any of these debates.

EL OH EL

I'm saying they must not be good because any programmer worth their salt wouldnt balk at programming in any language using any tool.

FYI - if you want to look at clunky languages look at some functional programming languages like Lisp or Scheme. These are the classes in college that made people quit and major in IS.

A good programmer can make do with any tool he's given. That's just the way it is.

You really have no clue what it takes to be a good software developer. You're just a two-bit Internet hack that likes to run his mouth.

Uh, you can use a wrench to hammer in a screw if you have too. Doesn't make it a great option.

Last year the Google Market was probably 17.3% of the size of the Apple's app store. I predict those number will be awfully different at the end of this year.

You'll be singing the same tune they've all been singing, then. And it never happens.

Um... Some times you have to use a wrench because that's all you have.

Don't blame the tool. Use what you have to get the job done. It's as simple as that.

Often times in the real world the customer dictates what tool you use.
