Garrett Reid is behind bars. Again. Reid, eldest son of Eagles coach Andy Reid, was sent to Graterford Prison yesterday after he failed a drug test at a Hunting Park halfway house, said Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman.

The 26-year-old tested positive for narcotics when he returned to the Luzerne Treatment Center, on Luzerne Street near G, where he was serving part of a three-year probation sentence. "He had been on a pass away from the facility for a brief period of time," Ferman said. Reports that Reid had been involved in a physical altercation at the center were unconfirmed, she added.

Reid's troubles began on Jan. 30, 2007, when his SUV rammed another car in Montgomery County, injuring the other driver. Police said Reid was high on heroin at the time.

While serving time for the car crash, Reid smuggled 89 pills into prison in his rectum. He was sentenced last summer to a drug-treatment program for nonviolent offenders. Reid served five months in state prison and was then moved to the halfway house, where he's subject to frequent drug tests, Ferman said.

Apparently it is reopened for business.

What a dumb guy. Not because he's the son of a football coach but because he's clearly a dumb, dumb, dumb person.

Agreed, everyone knows you can get 100-120 pills into your rear end.

Graterford is not going to be like that halfway house...shame, addiction is a terrible thing...

True and sending him to prison isn't going to help him with it at all.

do halfway houses usually give out passes, so that their patients can get leaves of absences, and potentially get in trouble, all the time?

They don't give out grades for parenting, but if your daughter ends up nekkid in movies for money or your son gets caught with 7 1/2 dozen pills in his supposed suppository stinkhole, you're getting an "F".

Well if you screw up you go back to prison. Seems like the best place for him- he will not be able to harm any innocent people. In the end that is all you can do with those that cannot or will not change.

I have known many people with an Oxycontin problem. Oxycontin problems rapidly spin out of control into Heroin powder and then Heroin needle problems. Opiate dependency, once it has you in its grips, it takes over your entire life...Your number one priority from the moment you wake up is to get the next high, to secure that days supply. NO ONE who is addicted likes it or wants to keep going with it, they do it because the physical and emotional withdrawal of these drugs is incredibly painful.

Its very sad. A lot of people simply end up ODing and winding up dead or in the hospital before they take the necessary steps to change and get it fixed.

Many of us would fall for the same thing. He's the son of a superstar and incredibly rich - Its safe to say Andy Reid's son never suffered without money to spend....So falling for this addiction was like a kid running after sex...It was right there, it was cheap, and it felt good, better than sex, right up until it stopped feeling good and became a necessary crutch in his life.

Many of us, given the same circumstances, could fall into the same trap. Bliss on earth costs $40 and he didn't know any better.
