I know it sounds wrong. I'm just as annoyed with the loss as anyone but a strange part of me has the sense of closure this morning. I know there is a still a chance we make the playoffs but unless that turns into a SB title the odds of this staff being back and the distractions that derailed the system are slim. Jerry was embarrassed last night, whether you believe it's his own fault or not the bottom line is he was embarrassed. I'm holding onto hope he has realized that you can't "develop" coaches as he was trying to in Jason Garrett and that hiring from the good old boys club as he did with Wade Phillips isn't always whats best for the team although it may be easier on him.
More this season then any I think the weaknesses of this team are obvious. They started to address them last year by adding speed on offense with Felix. I hope that trend continues as well as shoring up the 3rd phase of the game in special teams and putting a stop to the turn stile that is the FS and SS position.
I just really get the feeling that this will be the game that broke Jerry's back. Right now there is no excitement and everyone knows that's no way to open a new stadium. Jerry simply can not go into 09', into a new stadium and into a new season status quo and the expect the results he is looking for.
Speaking for myself, if everything was the same going into next season I would have trouble finding any reason to expect anything different. Yes Wade bought confidence with a 13-3 season despite the playoff loss but more then anything he bought himself this year and the result is simply a let down. The sad part, I'm not so much sure it's Wade Phillips as it is his assistants but just like in the past, he refuses to part with his guys and let them go which will ultimately be his down fall once again.
