I'm as stoked as anyone else about the prospect that Dak may be as good as he has looked, but he has been protected pretty well and I don't recall any big hits being put on him while he compiled the perfect 158.3 QB rating over these first two games. I didn't follow him in college so I don't know how tough he is. To his credit, he was able to move well when he saw pressure coming and he seems to have great awareness and composure. I'm not trying to rain on the Dak parade. I hope he's the future and I haven't been this excited about the Cowboys future in a long time. But he hasn't faced much adversity (partly because of his stellar play). I'm curious how he would react to a bloody-nosed-being-hit-on-every-play situation. Has anyone seen him have to tough it out? How did he respond?

he took a couple of shots in the first game and delivered the ball on the money. Took that late hit last night and kept playing great. Kid is tough as nails and had 41 rushing tds in college. I think he is going to be just fine taking hits.

From what I read, he took a lot of hits his Sr year in college. One of the critiques I read about him is that he didn't go through his progression due to too much pressure and his pocket presence needs improvement. The critiques said he took a lot of unnecessary hits in college because of this.

He got drilled last night on that late hit that wiped out the int. He didn't even glance at the dlineman as he hopped right up.

I'd go back and watch a game from his senior season.

That's all he did was get hit.

He had one of the worst offensive lines in the SEC.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I just keep looking for a chink in his armor. He has been too good to be true. Somebody pinch me. It's a shame when you expect something to go wrong all the time. Such is being a Cowboys fan of late, I guess.

The chink is that he hasn't faced an NFL defense specifically geared to stop him. That will likely come with time. Until then all we can do is judge him based on how he's looked thus far, which is pretty damned good.

I'm personally not going to worry about chinks, I'm just going to enjoy the ride.

Same size as Romo but a little more built if you know what I mean. There are dudes that are 230-240 carrying around a little more belly and chin fatzzz and then there are dudes that are 230-240 w 7-10% body fat.

Either way no diss on Romo cause he's great and Dak is not that level ( yet) but Dak is better built than Romo.

And stopping him is going to be pretty damned difficult.

Not with the existing running game.

Not with him being able to using play-fakes like he is.

Not with him being able to do things like the beautiful back-shoulder-fade thing he does so well.

I think he's going to be prone to picks, like many young QB's, but if he doesn't cough up the ball he's going to be hell to stop.

The questions are going to be how he handles reading defenses..going through progressions and maintaining composure in the face of defenders barreling down on him...the last of which will be significantly aided by the power of our OL

I agree. It's been almost surreal.

I think as long as people keep perspective, it's okay to be really excited.
Bottom line, he has looked great in the preseason and is much further along than many expected him to be.

We'll never find out with our o-line..

In all seriousness...

He played in the SEC and ran quite a bit.. Plus he's a big guy. I'm sure he can take hits.
This. As a Gamecock fan, I saw plenty of Dak. He has no issues taking hits. Dude is built like a tank.
