Mike Shanahan, Sean Peyton, Tony Romo, and now Jimmy Garoppolo all from Eastern Illinois. Pretty crazy if the guy turns out to be a player.
I've been impressed with his touch and accuracy, even on the move. I feel like those are things you cannot teach unless there's an issue to correct with fundamentals. Whoever taught him should be coaching in the NFL. He seems to have enough mobility to offer a run option once in awhile as well.
He also looks like someone you could stash for 3 years, as opposed to a Manziel. Then you could potentially sign him to a pretty low extension, replace Romo and have tons of cap room for 5-6 years. I'd be comfortable taking him as high as the 3rd, especially if we repeat last year's draft and pick up an extra. I just don't see us looking until later.
