Since Garrett became head coach, the Cowboys are 16 - 1 when playing teams with a below .500 record (tied for 1st in the NFL), but only 4 - 19 when playing teams above .500 (tied for 28th in the NFL). Not a good sign.

That is an awesome stat.

And yet I constantly see posts around here talking about how inconsistent this team is...

Also: the numbers are actually 18-2 and 7-21.

how many sub 500 teams will we be playing in the playoffs? Making the playoffs means another year of Garrett!

if that record holds true, that means a 6-2 home record for the season. that gives us a little hope considering our first playoff game will be at home. anything after that, you just cross your fingers and pray for the best.

Four losing teams left (NFC East + Vikings this week)
Two winning teams left (NO and GB)
Two that could go either way (CHI and OAK)

So anywhere between 8-8 and 10-6.

This is EXACTLY why he lacks SITUATIONAL awareness. Your strategy on how to close games should be dicated by how your defense is playing, the QB/offense you are going against etc.... We dared Brady, we dared Manning and Stafford to beat us....and I am sure there are many more. We have the most losses by 3 points or less in the NFL since Garrett took over. So when he says we need to learn from this....what exactly does he mean? I heard him say the play where Tyron Smith was called for holding was designed to be go straight up the middle. Did he re-iterate that on the sideline before the drive? Did Romo re-iterate that before he broke the huddle? I doubt he did...which means HE is not learning. And if he did and they still did the opposite...well either cut them or fire Garrett. Because there was nothing complicated about what we needed to do. And we have repeatedly lost games in these situations. So either Garrett ain't teaching....or these guys can't learn!

This is how the cowboys have to play it at this point. Win the division get that first playoff game at home where at least this year they play much better and win that game. The most likely candidates in that first game are:SF/SEA, DET, CAR at this point. All of which are winnable at home.

Yeah I am getting tired of 'we need to learn from this' when it shows he hasn't learned anything because it keeps happening all the time. I thought that with him calling plays and being head coach that interfered with his in game decisions and it hasn't happened as much this year until the Detroit game. I hoping that this time he truly has learned because if he doesn't then he won't be around to coach in those situations anymore.

You mean in Dallas? I think we are the better team but until proven otherwise we have to beat that team. We've let them off the hook the last two times we played them.
