1-Bernadrick Mckinney
Ok so im starting of with something different than the pass rusher you all want. But heres the reasons
1-Im following the cowboys recent method of taking the best player at a position.
2-Im replacing romac with a cheaper younger version thats equally as physical and will set the tone for our defence
3-he is simply the bpa hands down here.
2-David Cobb
To early?Well assuming murray doesnt come back we need a replacement and a darn good 1 at that. Here we have a complete back that can sure as hell run, catch and block. We dont pick again until the end of the 3rd round so what are our chances of landing a back like cobb then?A 2nd round pick that starts day1 is not a reach.
3-Kevin White
Undersized cb you say?I say the guy competes. And heres the twist-honey badger mk2.I seen this on another site and liked it so i copied the idea-Kevin white converts to our new ball hawking fs.
4-Ali Marpet
Bernie mac is due $3mill in 2015-for a back up guard/centre,take the cap savings and take a guard in the draft,Marpet is from a real small school but stood out at the senior bowl and proved he can play with the big boys
5-James Castleman
I wanted Calvin Barnett last year and watched him over and over again, during that time castleman stood out to me so here at the bottom of the 5th he is still available so im taking him.A big old boy that is athletic as hell-go google his 48yrd td catch.
Before the seaon is out he will have played significant snaps alongside crawford-what more can you ask for from a 5th rounder?

So no pass rusher from the draft?Thats because im going after Derrick Morgan in free agency.

McKinney is limited in coverage. To make it worth taking a 4-3 LB is the 1st he needs to be above average in coverage. They play in the Nickel over 50% of the snaps. You don't want a 1st round pick that comes off the field in the Nickel.

OK on Cobb and White.

The Cowboys won't depend on a division 3 OL to come in and be the top backup interior guy. Also, Bernadeau is only making 1.5M for 2015. I don't think Marpet gets drafted that early.

I liked Barnett last year also. I need to check out Castleman.

according to over the cap bernie is due a little over $2.8mill in 2015 with a cap saving of $1.5mill if he is cut.
As for mckinney-assuming they bring back either carter or more likely durant im happy to take mckinney at 27,he is the type of player we have missed for so long up until this season with romac.A real physical presence and tone setter.lee, hitchens and durant are all more than able to handle nickle duties f they dont think mckinney is quiet there yet

I see the logic of this pick. Kenricks or Perryman are better in coverage but are smallish. Not sure what to do at 27, honestly.

No, 2.8M is his cap hit. He will get paid 1.5M. The difference between 1.5 and 2.8 is bonus money that he has already received. That money hits the cap with or without him on the team. Teams make the decision to keep or cut players based on their salary not their cap hit.

McKinney might look like McClain but I don't think he has McClain's coverage ability. If not, 2 down run stuffing LBs are not highly valued in the modern pass happy NFL.

so he counts 2.8mill against the cap but only 1.3mill if cut then.which ever way you look at it his cap hit is to high for a back up guard/centre imo.
As for mckinney-so he is a 2down player in your eyes?Whats a rookie pass rusher or dt going to be?In rods rushmen rotation?

McKinney belongs in a 3-4....he's a downhill thumper who struggles in space. I honestly don't think he would even be in consideration for the 27th pick as long as we have it. Dawson from TCU would make a really good WLB for Marinelli and Perryman would be a good MLB....not sure either is worth the 27th pick at the moment though.

Marinelli type defenses are known to prefer speed over size.

Hitchens 6-0, 240

Perryman 5-11, 244

Kendricks 6-0, 230

IIRC Durant was about 230 when drafted.

Whats wrong with a downhill thumper? Its sure as hell going to help stop teams running all over us.It will also hopefully help keep sean lee away from the big contacts and injury free?We have seen this year what a difference a physical presence in the middle can do.A tone setter like mckinney will help us much like romac being there did ths year.We have our speedy coverage lbers a thumper would be a nice compliment to them.
As good a player as sean lee is i dont think if he plays in the middle this season inlace of romac our defence is as good. And im a huge sean lee fan btw,i just think romac added something this year we have been mssing and i think mckinney can take that job on for the long haul

Don't even look at the cap hit number, that includes money already spent. He either is or is not worth 1.5M which is what they pay to keep him.

With Romo's health being the #1 priority for this team, 1.5M is cheap insurance. Bern also plays Center.

I'm not 100% certain about McKinney as a 2 down player but that seems to be the general concensus.

A rookie pass rusher would only be limited in their rookie year, not for their career.

McKinney would have less issues as a 3-4 ILB.

Paul dawson is really made for our Defense,i wouldnt be surprised if he was rated very highly on our board as he can play multiple positions,i just hope he doesnt do too well at the combine.

Small school O Linemen and the Cowboys have been a bad mix.

In recent years yes, but then again hello Ron Leary. Larry Allen and Eric Williams were homeruns.

Paul Dawson is a perfect fit. Somewhat similar to Carter in terms of splash plays but on a far more consistent basis and Dawson does it vs run, pass and rushing the QB. I want him in 2.

Size wise yes. I have not watched enough game footage to commenton their talent level.

Watch Perryman. They guy is a guided missile. A really good player. I don't think he will be there at our second pick and I don't really like taking 43 LB's in the first, so IMO there isn't a very good chance he ends up in Dallas. However, he is such a good player that if they think he is BAP and take him at 27, I would be fine with it.

He is going to be a hell of a LB for somebody and he's going to do it as a rookie, IMO, if he is in the right scheme.

I really like Dawson in Marinelli's defense. IMO he is a definite candidate for our 2nd round pick if he's still there. I would rather have him in the 3rd but I just can't see him lasting that long.

So no pass rusher from the draft?Thats because im going after Derrick Morgan in free agency.

So Morgan would be the missing piece? Sorry, I do not understand how you get to that conclusion.

For me to see a draft like this as reasonable, we would have to come out with at least two potential starters for the DL in free agency.

well 1 of the leading pass rushers in recent seasons next to crawford who will improve with a full offseason at 3tech-he never had that last season, opposite dlaw and mincey rotation.
So all thats missing is a starting 1 tech?
But everyone says we wont take a 1 tech in the 1st couple of rounds because we dont value it apparently
