If you are a desperate enough fan for news, you listen to the full hour of the DC.com lunchtime/group hour-long streaming discussions that are posted a few times a week, with Josh Phillips, Rob Phillips, Nick Eatman ..
Anyway a few weeks ago, it was said with complete conviction by one of those guys above that the Cowboys had targeted a UDFA QB, but he was injured and wouldn't be ready until training camp. Matt Nichols was signed (at a pretty low $5K bonus) as a rookie-camp, OTA arm, until the guy we really wanted was ready to throw. We were going to bring that mystery man to training camp once his injury had rehabbed ...
I have no idea who this could be. But very interesting that this QB must be a completely under-the-radar player, that we could wait until all the UDFA suspects were signed a month ago, and our front office felt that this player wouldn't be signed by anyone else .. and that we still haven't signed him at this point either...
Interesting. Any ideas at all ?
(Yeah I know it's slow on this board. That's why I post this fluff. But because it's at QB and McGee looks fairly spare and Nichols ain't Joe Namath. And because Kitna keeps getting his passes knocked down in OTAs/minicamp (unlike last year, which makes McMahon or other folks wonder if Kitna has lost some edge) ..
