If any of you remember Derrick Lassic, the Alabama RB the Cowboys drafted in the 4th round of the 93 season, you will find a interesting statement said about him (on his Wikipedia page) by Erik Williams, the mauling RT on the team at the time.

Lassic started the first two games of the season while Emmitt was holding out. The Boys lost both games (go figure). Erik stated that Lassic was running too fast. In other words, the line had a particular flow they established, and he needed to see it and feel it.

I thought it was interesting because of what went on with Zeke last Sunday.... and Morris being a great vet sensed the "flow".
The Boys did go on to win the Super Bowl by the way... Let's hope history repeats itself.

Let's hope!

I think if Zeke had more time in pre-season to get that feel it might have been better but I think it was a combo of that and he was amped for his first game. Good post though

Dallas didn't play those first two games very well anyway. They seemed uninspired and it showed on the field. I don't think for one minute it was soley because Emmitt wasn't playing. Defensively and Ofensively they played uninspired and like crap. Lassic suffered from a lack of talent but he wasn't given a fair shot those first two games.

This happens to most RBs at every level. They're so excited to bust a big run, they don't let their line develop blocks and open up lanes for them.

I coach high school football and have to tell my RBs the same thing every single week. Be patient and let your guys open the lanes for you.

Lassic was drafted by Jimmy Johnson.... I truly believe Jimmy saw SOME ability in the guy.
