Another S target?

Also from that article

Releasing Jones would be pointless, because Miami would have a $17.1 million dead money hit in that scenario and just $100,000 in cap savings. Additionally, $11 million of his $13.1 million base salary this season is guaranteed.

True. But new coaching staff + disgruntled vet + lots of cap room = cut during TC if they can’t find a trade partner.

They have one of the largest CAP spaces available that we've seen for the season after this one coming up.

Mainly due to them not having almost any good players worth paying.
So they can eat dead money no problem this year if they want to move on....?

Only if he’s cut.
No way they’ll pay one safety more than double the combined amounts of the other 8 safeties on the roster.

They have cap space but it's because they don't have a good roster.

They're rebuilding and don't need a 13M veteran that will likely be gone be the time they improved.
Totally agree....

I think the Cowboys honestly believe Xavier Woods is going to have a breakout year and I can't say it's not possible.

This just in from Jason Garrett......We like our guys!!

Jeff Heath was rated as the "WORST" tackling safety in the NFL last year. THE WORST. He had THE MOST missed tackles in the NFL last year. That's how bad this clown is. But "we like our guys" as Clappy the Clown says.

Cant say its not possible? Such a strong statement. LOL

Hey!!! What was all that one in a million talk?

:muttley:

New York Giants’ Curtis Riley, on the other hand, would likely hope to forget his tackling performance in 2018. The fourth-year Fresno State product missed a position-high 23 tackles across his 988 defensive snaps this past season, giving him the lowest tackling efficiency (3.9) among the 74 NFL safeties with at least 400 defensive snaps played.

Not Jeff Heath

You should narrow that time frame. We drafted a safety with the #8 overall pick17 years ago.
lol...ok Roy Williams...pretty funny tho. He was fine until he had to cover guys and they stopped allowing safeties to lower the boom on wideouts. When they changed the rules, he became a liability then was run out of the league.Guess that's a topic for another day. But heck...1 safety drafted highly in 17 years. That's ridiculous.

The faith in Woods seems founded somewhat in reality.

The doglike devotion to Jeff Heath is not. Iloka isn't even close to cutting into his time if the OTA activity is any indication.
